I didn't stay here, but came to eat.

Excellent Food.
Excellent pizza.
Excellent seating arrangements.
Excellent view.
Excellent Band.

Excellent.

If you are staying in the North Beaches of Dar, make sure you come here for dinner at least once. Not the cheapest, but worth it every schilling.

...from any country you come from, and you want to feel at home or in "Alice Wonderland" and to feel a sound of Africa, you can go to Mediterraneo Hotel.
If you want to save our world that's the way to develop in the ecology respect and human way like the Mediterraneo family does.

This was a perfect place to spend our first day in Tanzania. It was so relaxing to sit by the Indian Ocean and enjoy the excellent service from the bar and the restaurant, whilst we recovered from the night flight from London! Our room was comfortable and quiet, and we had a good breakfast before starting our safari.
Tip: we left the hotel at about 8:00 and immediately joined a slow queue of traffic which meant that it took us about an hour to leave Dar. If you have a choice, it would be a good idea to leave the hotel earlier...or later!

My wife and I, want you to know how pleased we are with the outstanding service given to us during our stay at your hotel.
The food was excellent, and the staff at the reception and in the restaurant were extremely friendly and accomodating.
We will strongly reccomend your place to couples that want to have a cosy weekend in Dar Es Salaam.
Thanks from Alexander & Maria

the sea view wasnt want kind of sea view that i was expecting; from my bedroom window i could see the garden with some trees, the sea view was quite away and we paid an extra money for that so that we can see the seaview properly. The service was excellent, the lounge was right by the sea and that made the place soo relaxing with your food and drink.

We spent one night at the hotel prior to meeting our safari tour group. Clean, quiet, beautiful location on the ocean. Had breakfast before departing - simple but adequate.

Mediterraneo is an above-average value in Dar es Salaam, where good rooms don't come cheap. It's located in Kawe Beach about 30 kilometers out of town. The restaurant, the view of the water and the rooms are all truly lovely. The hot water (and water pressure) in our garden room was among the best we had during our three-week stay in Tanzania.

The only glitch is not the hotel's fault. We stayed at Mediterraneo for one night--our last night in Tanzania. We arrived on an evening bus right at rush hour. It took us more than an hour in stop-and-go traffic to make the journey to the hotel. The congestion was truly horrendous, especially once we reached the beach area (just past the US Embassy).

If you are going to stay in Dar for one night only, I wouldn't recommend the Mediterraneo--it is too nice a place for a stay of less than 24 hours and too long of a journey (given the traffic) to make it worth your while.

However, if you are planning to stay for a few days, then Mediterraneo would be a great choice, especially if you are not much interested in the downtown bustle of Dar. It is a peaceful and beautiful setting (especially the beachside restaurant and lounge).
