SUC is an absolute must for safari enthusiasts and first timers. It allows you to enjoy all the comforts of home in high end luxurious tents with a super comfortable bed, flushing toilet and and outdoor shower. I loved staying at SUC camp 2 with the sounds of the bush outside my tent, wonderful food/drink, great staff/service and awesome safari experiences. This is my kind of safari camp and although it doesn't offer all the luxuries of a permanent camp it offers the romance of an African safari with all the comforts necessary to recover in style. The opportunity to eat outside under the stars, to enjoy a drink around the camp fire and to go to sleep with animals grazing outside your tent is unbelievable.
The benefit of going with andBeyond is that their staff and guides know the area like the back of their hand. This knowledge allows visitors to have wonderful sightings and to feel safe throughout their trip. The guides, camp staff and management are absolutely amazing and always willing to go beyond. They listen to your requests and try to help you as much as possible with things you want to see and do. I can't wait to return to SUC for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Try and get a tent that is one/two tents away from the main common area for a little bit more quiet...

Tucked up in your 'tent' ( the biggest misnomer known to Man ) in crisp white linen surrounded outside by hundreds of grunting Wildebeest with all the accompanying smells, tastes, sounds etc - what could be better ? This is the way to Safari and 'AndBeyond' know exactly how to do it. Fantastic camps ( every comfort but totally in keeping with the external environment ), very satisfying food, endless drinks...and the most fantastically warm, friendly and attentive service that there could possibly be ! My parents celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary and a home made cake was produced along with home made high jinks and fun - all in the middle of the Bush, miles from anywhere ! My party and I have been on numerous Safaris - high end always - and this experience rates amongst the very best !

Opportunities to see the migration at its maximum in February. Huge herds of wildebeest and zebra, coming really close to the tents. Beautiful riverine landscape. Some lions in the area too. Unfortunately our visit was marred by an 18 hour downpour. The entire camp was ankle deep in mud. Many marooned touring vehicles (not our, fortunately). We sloshed to dinner in boots provided by the camp. Try to get there when the migrations are at their southernmost point, but before the rainy season starts.

We stayed at Serengeti Under Canvas (Camp 2) about a month ago and are very experienced Africa travelers. We enjoyed this camp so much. It is a mobile camp so does not have all of the luxuries of some lodges or permanent camps, but that is what we loved about it. We were extremely well taken care of and felt they were so glad to have us as guests. The management was awesome and available whenever we turned around. There was nothing extra that we really needed as everything was just done right.

The tents are a highlight as you are at ground level, up close and personal with the wildlife. The camp is surrounded by wildlife and our game drives were jam packed with the wonders of nature. Consequently, this is a pretty high traffic area with many other safari vehicles. For us, this was a little distracting, but of no fault of the camp. One night we had a whole herd of buffalo eating outside our tent with many just the other side of the canvas. It was great!

While staying here there was an historic storm that had not been seen for quite some time. Flooding, damaging winds, hail etc. The camp staff, guides and management made guest safety their number one priority. It was also a benefit to have & Beyond guides who are based at this camp and know this area like their own backyards. We saw many Vehicles whose companies are based in Arusha. When the flood hit, many of these guides panicked, as they did not know the topography as well. Our driver, since he is based right there, knew it like the back of his hand and got to safety very quickly.

This place is so comfortable, and relaxed - as safaris should be, but the behind the scenes attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Ben ( the assistant manager) and Andrew (our guide) were awesome. Would I stay at & Beyond properties again? Absolutely!

This review is a little late but wanted to comment on our experiences. We stayed at Serengeti Under Canvas in September 2013. What an experience - we loved every minute of our stay.
Mussa, Camp Manager, picked us up - we didn't know this at the time - a very humble, knowledgeable person. On the way back to the camp he found a leopard - an amazing sight to behold. She was sitting on top of a rock - a real bonus! We were greeted warmly at the camp and and our tent was wonderful. Loved the chandelier and the outside shower. Inside loo a bonus!! We couldn't get over how warm we were at nights. Thanks for hot-water bottles Joseph. The staff are amazing here - nothing is too much trouble. We would recommend anyone to stay with & Beyond - all their camps are something quite special.

We loved waking up in the morning looking outside and being part of the National Park itself. We had breakfast outside our tent on our final morning - this was very special - thanks.

We saw lots of different animals - unfortunately never saw a crossing of the wildebeest but we came close - Steven you tried - thanks!

Meals were great and the dining area was very special as was the pre-dinner drinks around the fire. All in all we loved our time here and have told so many people. Once again, thankyou to all the staff for making our time in the Serengeti very special.

Diane & Richard

andBeyond Serengeti under Canvas is something really fantastic. We stayed at their Ndutu site, and it was wounderful. Our family had three tents, and everyone took care of us in an exemplary way! KK made the most marvellous food, and to have breakfast out on the plain was also an incredible experience. Our guide, Antony, made our stay very special. He had knowledge of all the animals, from the big ones to the smallest bird. We had very interesting discussions about lots of different topics.
The tents are amazing, with everything you need. After getting a soft wake-up with morning tea, it was something lying in bed and looking out to see our part of Serengeti wake up. Coming back in the afternoon to an outside bucket shower was awsome.
To everyday ask for all your paraphenalia getting charged made you thing. Camera batteries, iPads, computers, iPhone etc. We are using lots and lots of electricity.
As we where there the Wi-Fi did not work and this was also quite a thinkable experience. Suddenly we had time to sit and think, and to just be! Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay!

Our "roughing it" part of the journey was simply amazing! The camp site is stunning. The tents are over the top and even the outdoor shower was better than some showers in 5 star hotels. Loved being exposed to everything, yet very comfortable. Well done to the team there for making our stay so memorable. Almost forgot there was no running water or electricity. Made for a very special Christmas for our family. The food was superb and Maleau, our guide gave us the Serengeti experience of a lifetime. Thanks, &Beyond!

Room Tip: All tents face nature, so you have plenty of privacy.
