“The most beautiful camp in the Serengeti”

This is a magical place. Each suite is gorgeously appointed. The staff are incredibly helpful. The food is remarkable. And you will never see African wildlife up as close. This is an extraordinary spot.

What a delight to write about Klein's camp. We stayed there as a group of 13 - 6 little children and 7 adults traveling from the US to East Africa in August 2013.

We adored this camp. From the food to the views from the rooms to the hospitality of the staff. Everyone went beyond our expectations. Incredible!

The private concession made a massive difference in terms of the quality of game viewing. We saw so much game in our first game drive it was difficult to imagine how the next three days would unfold - lion, leopard, elephant, zebra by the hundreds, buffalo, hyena, serval, caracal and even African wild cat all in 3 hours.

Our children were entranced with this special place - we were told it was one of the best family lodges from And Beyond and they were right. We've been to 13 different And Beyond lodges now over the past 11 years of traveling to Africa and this combined with Exeter Leadwood in Sabi Sands and the old Kwandwe (was And Beyond) are our favorites.

We fell in love with the staff - in love with the hills and the landscape and in love with the diversity of wildlife.

Thanks to the lodge managers who are really doing an incredible job at Klein's in making guests feel right at home even when there is a cape buffalo outside your room every night.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. Some have more protection from the sun but there is AC there. All rooms have...

This is an extraordinary location, the most memorable of 3 great mini-safaris we did as family ( 80 yo mom, 10 yo daughter and myself.) What makes it so special and memorable? The location is on the edge of the Serengeti national park, but the lodge is sitting on a huge chunk of private land that you overlook from the lodges. You can access this private reserve day or night. All of this borders on areas used my Maasai for their cattle and goats and such, so it is incredible picturesque. The lodge itself has no fence, so they are not kidding when they say you need a guide at night. When we came to our cabin at night we saw a big buffalo one night, a few elephants the other night, and my mom's quiet reading on the veranda one afternoon was distracted by a big baboon passing a few feet away. The service, the lodging (about 12 cottages total), the food are all first rate. The rangers, guides, and all the staff are extremely competent and kind and also genuinely open. We chose the &beyond travel company and lodge because we were interested in more than just the animals - I wanted to learn something about the people and local culture and history.

My mom who was having a bit of trouble walking from a recent injury, and everyone did what they could to make life easier for her. Another circumstance was my daughter- there are some kids at times but none were around when we were there. The ranger and tracker took some extra time with her to learn bow and arrow, making fire, and general fun stuff. She was so excited about the experience and the bouncing around in the jeep and they really engaged her with their expertise. I felt comfortable leaving her with them and other staff for hours.

Highlights-

* Watched a lioness spy the wildebeest herd crossing the river, break into a run along the riverbed, chase one into riverbed, and suffocate it right in front of us.

* Saw many lionesses eating the remains of wildebeests with their cubs, playing and fighting over food

* Followed 3 cheetah brothers for about 1/2 hour on 2 days. We were within about 12 feet or so of these beautiful creatures, they were unthreatened by us and played and groomed each other.

* Found 3 leopards in a tree that were mating and/or trying to mate as the female growled and pursued one of the males. We saw this twice over 2 days.

* Serval cat and hyenas and other animals seen at night safari.

* Visited a Maasai village with the tracker Rukuti who is Maasai. We visited a mom and sat in her house for a while with her and asked about her family, the lack of rain, and plans for the children. They have lost many cows in the last few years, and those we saw looked quite thin.

From the time that we landed at Lobo airstrip to our leaving 4 days later we had an incredible time and say more animals everywhere than I expected. Our ranger Rabin and tracker Rukuti were knowledgeable, experienced and took extra time to explain many of the birds and animals to us. The wide open feeling of the national park, the private concession below the lodge, the snack and drink breaks we would take in the bush, and the bouncing around in the jeep as we went off road chasing the animals... all of this is unforgettable.

Room Tip: it is a bit of a walk from the dining room to some of the rooms. if you don;t like that ask to be cl...

Klein's is located right outside of the Serengeti National Park. It has it's own safari concessions, leased from the local Maasai's. Therefore, night safari, not allowed at the national park, is available to Klein's guests. We saw two lions predate on a wilderbeest at one of the night safaris. It's proximity to Serengeti also allows quick and convenient access to the great Serengeti, best of both worlds. The staff, like all andbeyond staff, are professional and warm. The facilities, though not as luxurious as Ngorongoro Lodge, are very nice already. We thoroughly enjoyed the three days there.

This was out first safari stop on our honeymoon, followed by Ngorongoro crater lodge and Mnemba. Can't recommend that itinerary highly enough; it's a perfect combination if safari and relaxing beach time, especially if this is your first trip to Africa.
Klein's is such a special place - you really get the sense of being one with nature, and the vastness of the Serengeti really sinks in on your drive up to the Mara river. The sightings on the game drives were great, even though we missed the leopard, and the drive up to watch the river crossing is an unforgettable experience.
Service was very friendly, the lodge is very relaxed and the view is incredible. Singoi, our butler, still comes up in our stories. My husband started the trip with food poisoning (from Arusha) and the staff was so helpful making sure he recovered quickly.
This place was everything I had hoped it to be; strongly recommend.

Having been persuaded by my husband to go on a safari holiday I have to say I wasn't looking forward to the trip at all.
This changed the minute our ranger Selou greeted us at Lobo airstrip.
The next 4 days were the most amazing ;
The lodge itself is clean with beautiful accommodation and fantastic views,
The food was excellent and the bar area warm and welcoming.
The rangers and the general manager would pop in in the evening and chat about what we had seen.
The safari experience was superb we saw all the big 5 in 3 days and were lucky enough to see two rhino and a Wilderbeest crossing .
Selou and Mo were friendly kind and very knowledgeable in fact it was more like they were travelling with us than earning a living!
We even had a Masai dance performed for us in the restaurant along with a cake and champagne for our wedding anniversary.

Since returning home I look back and still can't quite believe how wonderful it was.

My husband and I spent 4 days here while on our honeymoon and it was beautiful. Klein's is one of the only places where you can drive off road and so we were able to really experience the safari. Our ranger Rabine and guide Jackson were the best and they made sure to make us breakfast and lunch in the bush. Amazing experience and I hope to one day return.
