We stayed for 2 nights at the Tortilis Serengeti Camp in the first week of June. It was our favorite place amongst all the accommodations we had during our Safari in Tanzania.

They have 10 tents (though in a few months they will have another 4) literally in the middle of Serengeti wilderness, surrounded by wild animals such as lions, wildebeest and buffalos. This is amazing if you're looking to have a true bush experience and escape the large groups of tourists that are typical of lodges and camps that can accommodate more.

We stayed in the Pimbi tent. It was beautiful and clean, super comfortable beds (I had the best sleep here), absolutely no bugs, great wifi if you need it, well functioning Western toilets and shower. I would prepare to not have unlimited hot water though, you have to order hot water for your shower as they fill a tank near your tent with heated water. So we had a lot of warm and tepid showers, and some hot ones. Not a big deal but good to be aware of it.

We would watch the beautiful African sun rise and set from our tent, hear lions and other animals at night as we went to bed and the beautiful birds sing as we woke up.

The food is great, lots of African variety for dinner and Western breakfasts (standard for most places). We opted for a bush dinner and bush breakfast, both of which were super special in ambiance.

Now for the staff, we felt so well taken care of. Bernard was assigned to our tent, he made sure we always felt safe, got us everything we needed and prepared our room every day so well. We also had great conversations with William, the camp manager, who was just a super nice guy, dedicated to his job and always wanting to ensure we were happy. Lastly, Joesey, one of the staff who attended to us at all our meal times really stole our hearts. The light of the world really shone through his smile and spirit, and we will forever remember him and the rest of the crew singing to us a beautiful farewell song as we left. You can't go wrong with Tortilis.

What a lovely review, we are all blushing (!)

We appreciate your comments, and yes, people should be aware that hot water is not unlimited: but with a few minutes notice, hot showers are always available.

Glad that you enjoyed the wildlife, that is always the highlight here - even though we try to upstage them!.

Kind regards,

The Team at Serengeti Tortilis Camps

Wow! This was cool. The tent was so luxurious and comfortable with great facilities.

But the camp, was just magic! Firstly you are in the Serengeti, wildlife is everywhere, herds or elephant, hyena, and lions. So a guide must be called to escort you everywhere. Dinner was great with fresh fish vegetables for main. Reasonably priced drinks (wine or beer) too.

At night, just trying to sleep without the excitement of hearing the animals outside your tent is tough, even after a long days safari. We had a pride of lions mating every 20 mins just meters from our tent. With the rangers keeping a safe watchful eye on the activity all night it's very safe.

Only regret was we stayed just one night!

I stayed at the Serengeti Tortilis camp in June 2018 for 2nights while on safari with my 6year old. Frankly, no words will convey how warm, pleasant, and welcoming we felt there.
We were met by the manager (Willi) on arrival, with a big smile, wet towels to freshen ourselves, and glasses of fresh juice. After a quick checkin and briefing about camp facilities and safety, we were shown to our tent.
The tents were clean, beautifully decorated, spacious and well equipped with everything we could possibly need - even insect repellent, torch and walkie talkie.
And the food! So good! The chef did wonders, producing delicious, varied and filling meals.
I got the sense the whole camp staff worked as a unit to make the guest feel comfortable and at home, no matter what their age. My son also went away very happy, after making me promise to go back one day :)
The only annoyance was the tse tse flies infested wooded area on the way to the camp. Even though I was assured they were virus free, they were still really annoying. The good news, the camp itself was not as bad.

Highly recommended!!

This tented camp was like walking into a movie set. Everything was so inviting......people, accommodations and meals. Serengeti Tortilis Camp thought we were suppose to arrive the night before so we didn't get the traditional safari welcome, but everything else was perfect.

We spent 3 nights at Tortilis Camp Serengeti. 2 adults & 4 teens. Right in the middle of serengeti plains. No fences. At night you here lion's roars, hyena's screams & Giraffe/rabbit/fox wondering right outside your tent. Although scary to hear, worth experiencing. The best part is the staff here, very cooperative, proficient, always ready to help. At night anytime you call (they provided Walky-talky), the person is outside your camp. The manager, the cook & all the staff. They provided vegeterian food all 3 days, including desserts & packed lunches. The tents were in excellent conditions.

Room Tip: All rooms are great.
