Towards the northern end of Paje is the rather unassuming Paje Beach Restaurant and Lounge. We walked by twice not sure if it was open or not before we went in to check it out and I'm glad we did. The food was great. I had the Zanzibar spinach which was a mild spinach curry served with rice and a pepper and onion salad. Hubby had the fish of the day, white snapper served with a tomato and onion sauce and rice. Both portions were more than enough and the quality of the food was great. Fantastic value for the money my meal costing a mere 9000 TSH and Hubby's 12000.
The restaurant is owned and run by a local and they do not serve alcohol. What the do serve is local food in a rustic atmosphere. Everything is made fresh so meals take a while to prepare but it's well worth the 40 or so minute wait.
I totally recommend this place.
