This is an extremely interesting museum with a good overview of the local history. Although relatively small, it's worth the visit if you're interested in archaeology and history, and there are some truly amazing mosaics and statues here. It's definitely worth the stopover on this touristic route.

The best bits are in the Bardo museum in Tunis but some interesting displays of every day objects. A few beautiful glass jugs and a great statue of a Silene carried by satyres

This museum is located at the main entrance site to the ruins. There was not much explanation about what the exhibits were but fortunately we had a guide who was an archaeology professor who was greatly helpful in explaining what we were seeing. If you are pressed for time you can probably skip the museum and just see the ruins and then the Roman baths.

This was a good place to see some older Punic ruins of Carthage also with a number of artifacts from Punic and Roman times. Coins, mosaics, statues etc. Since it's on top of a hill the view is excellent also. Drawings of the port from Punic and Roman times with maps are also interesting.
There's a part of exhibition of a Habsburg expedition to quell the local pirates. If history or archaeology is your thing, you won't miss with this one.
And of course there were Ben Ali portraits at the time.

It is clear that the Tunisians are trying to build their tourism industry. The museum houses an impressive collection of mosaic art from various eras. It was fine, but a little too much of one thing. I have attached a few pictures with other featured displays.
