“Enchanted”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

Excellent experience. I had the set menu at 52TD plus a half bottle of white wine at 14TD. The owner is really helpful and attentive. The quality of the food was really good. What you buy for another expensive dinner by Tunisian standards is trhe atmosphere of the historical building with an incredible decor. It is a travel through time.

“The slowest service ever! Average food!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2013

We went there for a business lunch. We were the only customers of the restaurant.Yet we spent thre hours and a half to finish our lunch.
you have the choice of only 3 quite pricy menus.
we chose the 2nd one and it was the longest lunch I ever had.
the food is average but very heavy.
the lamb meat I ordered was harsh and not tasty.
the CB did not work.
the best thing in this restaurant is the monument which is a very typical old house.
I don't think I'll be back there any time soon.

“Excellent Tunisian dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2013

This traditional restaurant is located inside Medina, in an old building transformed in restaurant, as is the case of the other similar Dar El Jeld and Dar Belhadj. The decoration also is exactly the same, only the colors of the walls change... So, if you visit one of them is enough, except if you are a Tunisian food lover. This one serves only a choice of menu's at various fixed prices. The menu we had consisted of Tunisian specialities, of course, and it was delicious, especially the cousqous. The price for the two menu's was rather high: about 52 Euro's without alcohol, but worth it. Finally, the atmoshere was discreet and romantic and the service excellent.

“excellent food, set meals only”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2012

The restaurant has a beautiful setting, and we found both the range and quality of the food on offer to be among the best we experienced in Tunis, the fish sfax-style was particularly good. There is also the added advantage of a wine list. But there are only a number of set menus on offer, with even the most basic including hot and cold starters, a main course and desert, which ramps up both price and volume. So I would recommend saving this for a special occasion when you are very hungry.

We went mid-week so were one of only 2-3 tables in the main restaurant (we saw plates going off to what I assume was a private dining room) but as all the tables were seated relatively close together there was some semblance of ambience.

“A bit pricey but beautiful space and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2012

I'd probably give this a 3.5. First, the space and service are both excellent. The restaurant itself is beautiful and a really pleasant place to have a nice dinner. The staff was very courteous, prompt and helpful. The food is good. We had a lamb soup, salad, mixed appetizer tray, lamb with couscous and veggies, and fruit for dessert, for a fixed 55 dinar price for Ramadan. Definitely much more than we paid anywhere else for food by a lot, and not as good as some cheaper places. The food was all good though the lamb was a bit dry and some of the fruits weren't fully ripe. I'd say it's worth it for 30-40 but not really for 55.
