“Perfectly fit for purpose”
Reviewed 24 July 2013

I had to present a 3 day course in Tunis and needed a business hotel close to the venue. I was footing the bill and was hoping not to spend a fortune. The Tiba was perfect. Spotlessly clean, decent breakfast, right in the middle of things, very helpful staff and most importantly, great internet. 5 nights cost me 200 Euros, which was amazing given the quality of the hotel. This is most definitely a business hotel but could also be used a base if visiting Tunis on a budget.

I was a little bit nervous about booking a 2 -star hotel in central Tunis at the start of our Tunisia trip, but it was just what was needed.
Clean modern efficient hotel free wifi in the room which is rare in Tunisia even in the most expensive hotels nice pastries at breakfast and the room had a patio.
Very good old-style -- albeit all-male -- restaurant bar -- L'Orient -- over the road -- , Belle Epoque Theatre Municipal across the Avenue, very close to tram stop, 7 minutes walk from Train Station and Medina.
On the down side... concertina shower curtain was a bit leaky, room smelled of cigarettes and reception desk was quietly helpful but a long way from Californian standards of 'How are you today?' smiliness.
Not sure I would ever go back to Tunis -- It has nothing you couldnt get from a trip to Sousse with its easy daytrips to Kairouan , El Jem and Mahdia. But if I did, I would definitely return to the Hotel Tiba.

The hotel is very well situated in downtown Tunis. Right off the main commercial road, it is close to restaurants, a major supermarket (Monoprix), the market of the Medina, and a short-ish walk to the TGM train.

The rooms are modern and well-done, with comfortable beds, flat-screen tvs, and decent bathrooms. The A/C is good and powerful.

Breakfast was somewhat limited in options, but there was enough food for both my wife and I to find something. Staff were courteous and helpful.

Room Tip: Probably best to ask for one that doesn't face the street. The view isn't as nice, but I thi...

This hotel could be very good. The price is right and the location unbeatable. The decor is also very good.
However when I got to my room, which allegedly had been cleaned and was ready, the toilet had not been cleaned and was stained...yugh!!!
Unfortunately the receptionist was amused at his news and later when I told the manager about it he clearly couldn't care less. I didn't even ask him to do anything about it, I just wanted him to know. He did offer me the opportunity to change rooms. But I said no, because by then I had unpacked etc.

Later I met him and told him I was disappointed that he hadn't at least been somewhat apologetic andthat I was not likely to return to this hotel, he said "that's fine" and "that's what they all say"!!!!

I don't see myself rushing back there!

hotel location was good, it was also clean and had everything you need in the room. a bit small but ok for a short stay in the city. As the other reveiws mention the staff attitude was shocking. i was very surpised at how they had no interest at all for any of the guests staying in the hotel. it was almost like they hated being their job. I was then pleased to see that it was not like that in Tunisia in general the people are lovely and very helpful.

Room Tip: great location, for a short stay

There is no doubt that Hotel Tiba is in a central location, has good wifi speed, clean rooms etc. However the fall down is that the staff seem to lack skills in customer service and frankly, are rude. We were also concerned that they may have been "informing" others of our stay as on 3 occasions we were followed into the medina by men posing as hotel staff who knew information about our nationality and length of stay. In addition to this the staff refused to assist us in getting a taxi to the airport unless we paid an additional 10 dinar.
