Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, it is right off Ave Habib Bourguiba on Ave de Paris in the centre of Tunis. The area ok for a man to stay in, not for a single woman though.
The hotel is an old colonial type building and has been refurbished. I stayed in an enormous room with stone floors and a nice bathroom. The air con worked well, breakfast was ok. I paid about £50 or £60 per night and that is the absolute maximum I would pay at this hotel in 2014.
We spent 1 night at this hotel, it is an average accommodation but our room was clean and had all the things we required. We spent a pleasant time on the outside balcony watching the traffic and passer bys below us as it is on the 2 nd floor. The hotel staff were very helpful. Waiters tend to look after the locals before tourists but that is ok with me. The location is in downtown Tunis so central for shopping etc.
When I read all the reviews I was excited to get there and enjoy it myself but the excitment was turned down at reception. Cold and almost agressive greetings from the reception staff followed by almost no service at the bar, I thought it was the late arrival (8pm). The biggest surprise was the breakfast with an almost empty buffet that was justified by the restaurant manager by a big group that was residing in the hotel at the moment. I stayed there for two days because I was too lazy to move out and unfortunately I forgot to enjoy the beauty of a rather well refurbished building with elegant and spacious rooms. Too bad, this could have been a great experience but turned out to be an uncomfortable one.
We had several meetings in the hotel and we appreciated the service, the location and the hotel itself. All staff is helpful, always there to answer your questions! Rooms are comfortable and meeting rooms are great for small, medium and large meetings!
Very central location and the type of hotel I like - clearly was once one of the best hotels in the city before the international chains arrived and it slowly suffered through lack of maintenance expenditures. However it is great to wake up and know which countrry you are in and not in Sheraton or Hiltonland..................Big and comfortable room although furnitire was a bit battered the bed was fine....................Conference room and restaurant were great rooms and the food was fine.
I stayed just one night at this hotel last September and the hotel its very nice, the rooms are fantastic and very reasonable size. It was very clean, modern, room was large, the staff very nice and helpful and the price is also good. Still there are two weakness: 1) bathroom is not as good as expected 2) it should be better soundproof as it is a little bit noisy
