Hotel Les Ambassadeurs
Ranked #31 of 55 Hotels in Tunis
Reviewed 23 June 2009

My boyfriend and I stayed one night at this hotel in May 2009. A Tunisian friend of mine recommended it as a 3-star, quality hotel. Although a bit expensive at around $80USD a night (slightly pricey for Tunisia), the hotel was nicely situated across from a park and the zoo and within walking distance to many cafes, restaurants, and a great gelato shop, as well as the old city (20-30 mins walk).

The bed was soft and comfortable, the room was very clean, and the hotel was very quiet. We slept well.

There was no business center, however. Also, the front desk staff is not exactly service oriented (no surprise in Tunisia, though). After requesting an iron (for which they did not know the English word -- so I looked it up in French and called back), they informed me that they were "out of irons" and thus had none to bring to me. (???) Also, when I asked the front desk clerk if he could recommend any interesting sights within walking distance of the hotel, he literally could not recommend anything. And the hotel is in the middle of the city!

As for other details, the breakfast buffet was included in the price and was small and basic. I stuck with bread and jam, while my boyfriend opted for the more exotic option of rice and peas (yes, a breakfast choice).

All in all, it was a good stay and I'd recommend for a basic accommodation.

Travelling for business in Tunisia I rested a couple of days in this hotel, not bad, quite normal for European standards. Rooms are large enough, bathroom works, in my room at 3d floor no noise from the main street. Breakfast is good, but I didnt love so much buffet restaurant for lunch and dinner, low quality for my taste.

This hotel is in a relatively quiet location, opposite the Belvedere Park, just outside the city centre. It's easily reached from Tunis Airport, about 5 km away. It's convenient for Tunis' attractions, which can be reached either by taxi or the Metro (tram) system.

The hotel is pleasant. The rooms are slightly small but comfortable enough. The staff are attentive. The restaurant serves a decent breakfast and the dinner is safe but unexceptional.

For the price, a decent stay.
