“Reasonable hotel away from the centre of Tunis”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

The hotel is away from the city centre. Approx 10-15 minute taxi ride (depending on traffic) into the centre and costs around 2 dinar.
The rooms that overlook the road are quite noisy, however the rooms are pleasant enough and have LCD TVs. Only one lift was working when I stayed here in May 2013. The hotel can exchange currency and there are several banks nearby.
Breakfast buffet - arrive early as they tended to run out of glasses and / or cutlery. The selection of food was better than I expected based on previous reviews.
Evening buffet - this was very popular and the restaurant quickly filled up. There is a large TV in the restaurant and this tended to be on high volume when the football was on!

Le Pacha is the worst hotel I stayed in my life. From A to Z every single thing and service is a desaster. The room was not at all clean and the stuff, very very unfriendly and insulting. The food in their restaurant is desastrous and so is every thing. I stayed their for a business trip and I swear, that I will rather sleep on a bench in Tunisia than in this Hotel.

Room Tip: Tipp: Never book this hotel and this will be the first correct thing you can do, if you go Tunis.

This is a perfectly reasonable, not too expensive, 3* hotel in a middle income country. The room was clean, fair sized and comfortable with a decent bathroom en-suite. The staff were friendly and helpful and there is a reasonably priced bar in the building.

My room was at the front of the hotel, overlooking a busy junction. This meant it was noisy at rush hour, but the junction was quiet by about 8pm and my sleep wasn't particularly affected. It is a little way away from the centre of the town, but not excessively so, less than a couple of Dinar taxi ride (about £1).

I spent one night at Hotel Le Pacha before travelling to the airport the next day. The hotel was average. Rooms were clean and contained facilities e.g. tv with English language film channel. The breakfast buffet was ok; the pastries were hard, the egg not properly cooked, and the ham contained questionable white marks. The location was the main disadvantage. We really struggled to find places to eat nearby, as although restaurants did exist, they had either closed down or were temporary closed on a saturday evening. The hotel dinner was ludicrously expensive- 60 Tunisian dinars per person!
Overall, the hotel was adequate for a one night stay, but the price of £15 per person per night was very expensive for the services provided.

After spending two weeks in Tunisia, this hotel is under-rated overall when compared to typical 3 star lodging in the country.

On the positive side, this hotel does have:

1. Hot water with good shower facilities -- this is NOT a standard feature throughout Tunisia
2. Decent Wi-Fi connection in the lobby and on upper floors (Note: it will not function on the lower level floors)
3. Acceptable breakfast
4. Adequate bedding

Having read a number of reviews that reported extreme noise, I was prepared to use earplugs; however, I didn't find them necessary. The first night I stayed in a location that was on the "quiet" side away from street traffic. But on the other nights with a room that overlooked the street, it really wasn't as bad as expected.

The buffet dinner is mediocre at best. Since many restaurants in the area shut down at 7:30 PM, your best best is to eat your main meal at lunch... and get by with store purchased snacks for the evening. If you must eat dinner at the hotel restaurant, see if the management is willing to bargain to get the price reduced (they do this with travel groups that ask)--the buffet dinner simply is NOT worth the regular 20 dinar standard bill.

The location is good--a 15 - 20 minute walk to the medina, or you can get a taxi for under 2 dinar.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. If you want Wi-Fi service seek a room at or above the 4th floor.

This is a 3* hotel with professional front-desk staff, a friendly environment and well located. A good walk from the Tunis centre and only 2Tunisian Dinar by private taxi. The food is great. I did not like it that they allow smoking in the dining room. The male staff could be taught to smile now and then. The female staff are charming. Our room was clean and well located on the 2nd floor, but we did not like the vibration of the night-club close by. A better room would be on the higher floors, I imagine.

Room Tip: Go for the rooms on the higher floors if the dull disco music will disturb.

Stayed 1 night on B&B basis on 23/05/12 as had business in Tunis next morning. Arrived around 21.00hrs and tried to change up some sterling at reception as airport bureau de changes closed. States 24 hr money change, but was told to come back after 8.00 next morning. Asked reception for the room numbers of my tunisian friends who had booked in earlier so I could phone them but he just sat there and fiddled about before ignoring me (My mobile phone wouldn,t pick up a service and no time in tunis to get a tunisia Sim card). Think he was after a tip first. Bank ATM opposite hotel. Bag taken to room by friendly porter. Room ok but in need of refurbishment. Overlooks a very busy road and deperately needs some double or triple glazing. Unable to get any sleep due to sheer amount of traffic and horns honked until after 02.00. Breakfast above average with juice, tea coffee etc. coice of eggs fried , boiled with some sort of egg tagine, along with cold meats. cheese , onion, tomatoes etc. Hotel had small bar that when I arrived was entered from Main street outside hotel but after finally locating friends we then found to be closed at 22.00 and we finally found a small hotel a few 100 metres around the corner where we could get a fanta etc in their reception area. On returning to the hotel we found that the Le Pacha bar was open and they had opened the door through to the small reception area. Would not stay at again
