We dined here as in-house guests on both nights that we stayed at the Ilala Lodge. Reasons:
. convenience obviously, so didn't have to arrange transport to and from another location. Also Victoria Falls, whilst we felt quite safe during the day, is not a place that I would recommend one wander around after dark;
. dining area - able to eat out under the stars on the hotel's large grass and paved patio with an outlook over the grounds and the bush;
. menu selection - not extensive but very reasonable range of choices;
. wine list - almost all South African from Stellenbosch but good range;
. cost - very reasonable - US$22 for an excellent piece of beef with vegetables plus US$20 for a good bottle of SA wine;
- tasty food. On the first night I had the beef plus my wife had a very delicious pork fillet on a risotto base with vegetables. Given our first night's experience we were looking forward to backing up. The next night's fare, beef salad and ostrich with vegetables, was just as good;
- service - friendly and efficient would probably best describe it.
