“River View Room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

Business standard hotel, stayed one night. Room was comfortable with a river view - beware of the baboons if you leave the doors if the balcony open. Breakfast selection very good but coffee was awful. To get to town there is a shuttle that runs once per hour (up to 5pm) or take a taxi.

A very nice place for a peaceful holiday.Staff is so helpful and housekeeping is great. Food is exceptionally great esp breakfast. Shuttle service was always on time making travel less stressful. Only thing is the bar cocktail menu which needs a but of revamping. Highly recommended and will certainly stay there again...

A nice place to stay at Victoria Falls. Unforatunately the hotel is a little bit remote to downtown, but there is anyway not much to see downtown and the taxi is also affordable. Enjoyed the pool and the nice Restaurant.

Although there are signs that the hotel are not brand new any longer, there is absolutely nothing to complain about. Old can sometimes be very stylish and this is definitely one of those cases. We had clean and spacious rooms with complimentary coffee/tea and all the necessary toiletry necessities. The staff is exceptionally kind and helpful and did everything to make our stay unforgettable. Due to the fact that it is a few kilometers out of Vic Falls, you can enjoy an absolutely peaceful stay in the middle of nature. Lovely golf course and beautiful swimming pools. A shuttle service - every hour on the hour - takes you to all the places of interest in Vic Falls, including a stop at the entrance to the Victoria Falls. Food at the hotel restaurant was also of a high quality and we especially enjoyed the buffet breakfasts in the mornings! I can strongly recommend a stay at the Elephant Hills to everybody interested.

Room Tip: Rooms on floors 5 and 6 have a better view, especially those facing the Zambezi.

* The hotel is a little old but big and very comfortable...
* The staff is very helpful and very kind...
* The breakfast is very expensive! 27 usd per person and honestly they don't offer an amazing buffet...also, there's no option to choose from the menu, just buffet. But you need to check well in you hotel confirmation because at least, hotel.com included our buffet for the 4 days we stayed there (the problem is that I didn't check since the begining and they were charging the 27usd).
* In Zimbabwe, they accept dollars everywhere, so don't buy rands.
* There is a shuttle every 30 minutes from the hotel to downtown or wherever you need to go and it's free..they also can take you to victoria falls national park, so you don't need to hire a tour to do the walking tour..(you will need your passport at the entrance) don't forget to bring your poncho and you waterproof camera!! you will get wet because of the huge breeze!!
* Inside the victoria falls, you can see the Rainforest restaurant/cafe...it's delicious!!

Room Tip: Rooms with view to the parking area are very noisy..you can hear staff people talking at 2am!

The Elephant Hills is only let down by its slightly "tired" look. Nothing that cannot be fixed and enhanced by a good renovation which, by the way, would put this very special place right up there with the finest hotels. The setting is beautiful, all the amenities are there, it is spacious in every way, beautiful views, breathtaking scenery with a Gary Player designed 18 hole golf course and wildlife in abundance to boot. You do not have to be a golfer to enjoy this course!

Yes, the hotel is some 3km out of the centre of Victoria Falls, but they run a regular shuttle service (sweet and friendly driver) from early morning until about 17:30 in the afternoon which can be supplemented by a very reasonable and reliable taxi service (ours was Tomy's) also stationed at the hotel. Some of the excursions include transport to and from the hotel, I advise that you confirm this at the time of booking your excursion.

There are other options for dining out, but there is no need to do so as the quality and variety of food at the hotel is more than adequate and the service is excellent. Depending on the percentage of occupancy at the hotel, dinners could be quite festive and we were treated to live music. The marimba might not be to everyone's taste, but they do switch to a lighter mood with more popular music during the course of the evening.

When you arrive at the hotel, you are welcomed with a snow white lukewarm towel to wipe your grubby hands AND a most refreshing cold drink. This sets the tone for the warm and friendly service you will experience for the rest of your stay.

With time most memories fade away, but that first sunset witnessed from the pool area and the amazing staff of the Elephant Hills will be hard to erase!

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the 6th floor, 5th also good. I believe the rooms with views of the Victoria F...

Execeptionally friendly and helpful staff: quiet but cheerful. Beautiful grounds with lovely swimming pool. Clean and comfortable rooms with very basic amenities. Warthogs, buck and lots more wildlife on site - pity about those pesky baboons!

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the river or swimming pool, arther than the car park!
