The Lodge was everything we had hoped for and more. We only wished we could have stayed longer. The staff were great and very friendly? They made it easy to arrange for the Gorge Swing activity (highly recommended) and the shuttle bus into town and to the Falls was very efficient and easy. We went to a restaurant in town one night, Mama Africa, and they picked us up from there even though it was not a regular stop. The Boma restaurant was also great - wonderful food and entertainment. Make sure you get a drum!

Stunning waterhole view from your bedroom
I came in 'green' season but still lots of impala, baboons. Warthogs and elephants around

Menu is a bit restricted, but lovely food overall

Rooms are clean and the staff friendly

A good shuttle service runs hourly to the falls and town

BIG Downside was the fire alarm that went off at 2am, 2:30am and 5am on my nights stay (one night still to go !!!)

Great hotel and if not for the fire alarms, a good destination.

Victoria Falls Lodge is a lovely place to stay while visiting the area. The unique "vulture feeding", the hyenas calling at night, elephants at the watering hole all created another different experience on our month long sojourn in Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa. Yes, it is a little tired, the mosquito nets need to be replaced, the housekeeping was inconsistent but when we asked for something it happened right away!! The staff in the main lodge areas were very pleasant but don't expect service to happen quickly. Victoria Falls, the Elephant Camp, the BOMA dinner and even the greeting by the warrior when we first arrived all created a unique experience. I'm glad there were not TV's in the room, we didn't go so far to sit in our rooms and watch CNN. The breakfast buffet was varied and tasty and we enjoyed the dinner we had one night in the dining room.

Room Tip: make sure your room has a view of the watering hole - not all of them do!

This Hotel is truly unique ! The staff are extremely courteous and helpful. The views are unique as one can spend hours looking at the animals that come to the pond to drink. The staff loaned me their binoculars to get a better view of the animals. I am not sure why but there were no TV's in the rooms. They have a very comfortable TV room though which was mostly unoccupied (understandably so as there are so many other things to do). The buffet breakfast spread was great.

Room Tip: Request for a room facing the watering hole and on the 2nd level. The room we had was on the ground...

We were in Africa for 12 days. Stayed several hotels and resorts. Every part of what we experienced at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge was excellent and the highlight of our time in Africa.

The staff is on another level of professionalism while the accommodations were outstanding. If we ever decide to go back to Africa, this staff and resort will be the main reason for our decision.

If you are on the fence about where to stay while visiting this Wonder of the World, don't be. Make the call...Victoria Falls Safari Lodge! You will be the next Five Star reviewer on TripAdvisor.

First, let me say that the staff was universally outstanding. Super friendly, always attentive, willing to go out of their way to help the couple of times I needed it.

I didn't think the accommodation was great. Nice, but not super. Small things--a couple of twin beds when I should've had a queen. A little worn around the edges. Nothing major, just don't go in thinking it's a super-luxurious resort.

Enjoyed the experience, but I think you probably could find just as good a place in town with the conveniences which go along with that, probably for less. Depends what you want, being out in the country was nice.

If you go, don't miss the vulture feeding at 13:00. It's a trip, that's all I want to say. Had a Boma dinner one night, once again, nice, but not $44 worth of nice.

I kind of think it's the sort of place that charges just one level above what they deliver--except for the personnel themselves. But I can't put a finger on it. Maybe I'm just tired after being on the road so long.

YMMV.

Room Tip: Get one central to the hotel for a good look at the sunset and the watering hole out back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Voted the best Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe for 20 years running, the world-famous Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers easy access to the iconic Victoria Falls, coupled with a wildlife experience that is truly unrivalled. Now in its 22nd year of welcoming guests, the Lodge is built on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park with endless unspoilt views to the horizon, just four kilometers from the Falls. This is the only sunset facing hotel in Victoria Falls, and the newly-renovated rooms and balconies are built up above a central waterhole which attracts herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, as well as night-time predators, such as lion and leopard. Our warm and personable staff are our greatest pride. Past guests frequently comment on our team's sublime hospitality and seamless delivery. The main areas of the lodge, such as the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant and the homely Buffalo Bar, are rich in ambience and also overlook the central waterhole, where drinks and dinners are often shared with wildlife meandering down to the water each day to quench their thirst. ... more   less
