Wow, what a truly superb stay in Zimbabwe. I travelled with my mom and we received such a warm welcome at the Safari Lodge reception upon arrival and were given a quaint room overlooking the waterhole. We were blown away by the friendliness and hospitality of the staff, so refreshing! The restaurant meals were 5 star and the Boma was a true African experience, we tasted everything from crocodile tail to buffalo stew, wart hog, Zambezi river bream, polenta chips, sadza and more! We really felt transported to another world without the noise of traffic, radio and music but rather the peaceful sounds of nature and the stillness of the bush. We were fetched for all our activities spot on time and everyone we encountered along the way was more than friendly. We did the sunset cruise, helicopter flip, elephant-back safari and even a gorge swing!! We would go back to the Vic Falls Safari Lodge in an instant!!

Room Tip: Ask for any room which has a view of the waterhole.

The lodge runs a free shuttle service to all the important attractions. Along the way, it stops by the craft market, city centre, some landmark hotels and the Victoria Falls. If you are on free and easy, you can book your tours from either the hotel tour desk (which cost a bit more) or take the shuttle to the city centre and you can find many tour agents there.

The lodge is situated outside of town which is an ideal place to unwind and relax. It is overlooking a beautiful waterhole where you can spot animals throughout the day. We saw elephants, giraffes, warthogs, deer etc etc.

Choose rooms that are on the upper level and closer to the main lodge so that you get an unblocked view of the waterhole. You can also rent a pair of binoculars from the reception for animal viewing.

If you have a few nights there, do remember to get back early one day to see the lovely sunset. Also remember to climb all the way to the top floor of the main lodge, there is a viewing gallery equipped with sofas to relax.

The breakfast spread is good. Staff are friendly and professional. Room is clean and well equipped. Bed comes with mosquito net (though we hardly see any mosquito). It provides mosquito repellent and even a small tub of SPF30 sunscreen!

Room Tip: ask for a room with unblocked view of the waterhole. our room at the lower level has only partial vi...

Thank you for the great review of our lodge and for your very apt description that Victoria Falls Safari Lodge reflects. Yes, we're certainly in harmony with nature here but with inspiring vistas and a majestic piece of never-ending wilderness.

We sincerely hope you return one day to revisit and relive your wonderful memories with us.

The Lodge is an experience in and of itself. The central part includes the registration and two restaurants, TV room, small shop, and Internet kiosks. The rooms are right and left of the central area. The roof is metal covered with thick thatch. It is windowless and thatch covered in the restaurant, bar and halls. Therefore, you can easily see the animals in and around the lit waterhole, day and night from the rooms (have window/doors), bars and restaurant. We saw egrets, elephants, kudu, wart hogs and impalas. In fact, there were wart hogs grazing outside the entry sign to the facility.

You are advised to close your window/doors to your room, so the baboons do not pilfer your items while you sleep. We didn't not have a problem with them, but the baboons decided they wanted apples for breakfast, so they went through the hallways to get to the restaurant, grabbed a couple of the breakfast bar, and out the side of the restaurant.

I liked that there was insect repellent in the room. I am mosquito bait, so my husband sprayed all around the door jams. The doors are a fraction of an inch above the floor, so I kept my slippers by my pillow so no chameleon, spider, etc would get in them. They have netting around the bed that is lowered at night to keep mosquitoes out, I just chose to be extra safe.

On my Lion Encounter, I met a woman who was born in Zimbabwe. She said, we came at low mosquito season—early April. We saw only 1 mosquito and I didn't get bit. I was amazed and pleased.

They also had a shuttle that ran hourly to town, the craft market, and Victoria Falls park. It was great! It runs until 10 PM.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room that views the waterhole. That way you can look through your window/door...

From the moment we arrive at the Safari Lodge we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and the briefing we received on the workings of the place was thorough and easy to understand. The rooms were more than acceptable and the view was just glorious. The balcony from our room looked out directly over the water hole. During our stay we saw everything from Elephants to Warthogs and plenty of different types of Deer. The pool although quite small was lovely to be around.

The lodge is very well run with all the staff being very friendly and helpful. One of the highlights for us was the food. It was some of the best food we had while in Africa. There is plenty to do and see just short distances from the lodge. We did the Lion walk (sensational!), the tour of Victoria Falls as well as a micro flight above the falls. The free shuttle bus makes all these activities very easy to get to. One of our nights also featured the Boma Dinner which was heaps of fun.

In short it was a great place to stay and added extras like the view, the food and the friendly staff only made it more enjoyable.

We stayed here for 2 nights/3 days and had a wonderful time. The lodge is perfect for access to the falls. We had purchased a package which worked well for us and included attending the BOMA, a sunset cruise and a dinner at the hotel. Our room overlooked the pond and were able to sit and watch a mini safari with a huge herd of elephants coming to the pond in the evenings along with warthogs, lots of antelope (various species). Would certainly recommend this lodge for your stay in Vic Falls. The rooms are large, clean and airy.

The Lodge was everything we had hoped for and more. We only wished we could have stayed longer. The staff were great and very friendly? They made it easy to arrange for the Gorge Swing activity (highly recommended) and the shuttle bus into town and to the Falls was very efficient and easy. We went to a restaurant in town one night, Mama Africa, and they picked us up from there even though it was not a regular stop. The Boma restaurant was also great - wonderful food and entertainment. Make sure you get a drum!

Voted the best Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe for 20 years running, the world-famous Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers easy access to the iconic Victoria Falls, coupled with a wildlife experience that is truly unrivalled. Now in its 22nd year of welcoming guests, the Lodge is built on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park with endless unspoilt views to the horizon, just four kilometers from the Falls. This is the only sunset facing hotel in Victoria Falls, and the newly-renovated rooms and balconies are built up above a central waterhole which attracts herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, as well as night-time predators, such as lion and leopard. Our warm and personable staff are our greatest pride. Past guests frequently comment on our team's sublime hospitality and seamless delivery. The main areas of the lodge, such as the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant and the homely Buffalo Bar, are rich in ambience and also overlook the central waterhole, where drinks and dinners are often shared with wildlife meandering down to the water each day to quench their thirst. ... more   less
