What a fantastic stay! It's about 8km away from the falls, they also offer transfers to and from town/falls. The rooms were newly renovated in March 2011, and still today, offers amazing luxury and comfort. The beds were extremely comfortable, the amenities range is wide, and there is more than enough place for all your clothes in the cupboards. It offers aircon (which did not disturb us at all during the night). The best part however is the little balcony area overlooking the grounds and river. Truly relaxing after a day of sightseeing, just to sit and look at the grounds/sunset and river.

The lodge has got a buffet style dining thatch lapa. They serve breakfast (set out food such as cereal, cheeses, fruit, bread and other pastries, and then hot food and choose your own omlette and eggs) and dinner buffets, but the roomservice menu is also wonderful, with tasty food. There is also a bar area with very comfortable chairs to sit and relax in. The pool area is also lovely, with comfortable deck chairs and a poolside eating and drinking menu. The grounds are beautifully manicured, and you'll also see some animals roaming around (some monkey's and a little family of warthogs).

The staff are extremly friendly. They are very helpful and will bring you anything you need to your room and help you wherever they can. There is a activity desk, where you can also book all the activities such as bungee jumping, zip line, sunset cruises, helicopter flights (A must do!), and many more. Just note that the activities are quite expensive (but absolutely worth it), so make sure you budget for that. All the activities comes with transfers. So they will pick you up and drop you off.

Check in/out was a very hassle free, easy process, so your vacation will begin immediately.

If you are looking for a quiet, tranquil place (far enough to not be overrun by other travellers, but close enough for all the sightseeing), then I can highly recommend this lodge.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a river view, overlooking the lawn. Make sure you budget for all extra's for sunset cruises (park fee's etc). I can highly recommend the room service menu, it's a bit cheaper than the buffet, but great quality.

We travelled as a couple with another couple to the Vic Falls for a couple of days in Oct 2011.
I was sceptic about the lodge, but accepted it as it came highly recommended by our travel agent, who had just seen it after it was renovated in March 2011.

We drove through Botswana to the Falls, and stayed @ A'Zambezi for three nights.
The room was stunning! With the renovations they did really change these rooms to have a 4,5-star feel. You have a silent aircon, a beautiful bathroom, excellently decorated, a balcony with comfy chairs, and a bed with a nice mosquito curtain. Now that's all qualities any of the Hotels in Vic Falls can give you (if they upgrade their rooms).

What you won't find at any other Hotel in Vic Falls:

* Peace and quiet - This Hotel, being about 10km out of the Vic Falls, and nestled against the Zambezi is nice and quiet. You hear nature. Some would think it would be better to stay as close as possible to the falls, but you forget that you'll have the helicopter constantly buzzing away, or people everywhere as soon as you put your foot outside of the Hotel's grounds. (Zim people being very poor, they do beg a LOT)

** Animals - there warthogs and monkeys around all day, and if you're lucky, Sebastian the Hippo could be heard coming on to the lawn late at night to graze. You're also RIGHT UP AGAINST the river, which is great. One night we went and climbed onto the sundowner-boat. It was so peaceful, we sat around for a while. It wasn't even 5 minutes later that our waiter showed up, with each of our favourite cocktails! Great service.

*** You may think its a bad thing that the Hotel is about 10km away from the town, but with the ample shuttles, it's really not. You're also within walking distance of the Elephant Sanctuary and croc farm.

Now what made the trip even more special:

We got engaged on the second morning of our visit to Vic Falls, as the sun came up through the mist of the falls. We were alone in the park and it was simply one of those moments that just keeps making my heart skip a beat. When we arrived back at the Hotel at 7am, our friends had told the staff about my intentions. They proceeded to treat us to a private champagne breakfast on the grass. As we sat, the warthogs came and grazed about 1m from us, it was very special. We really also didn't expect the free champagne and preferential treatment, as we were on B&B basis.

If I had one tiny bit of criticism, it would be that the mattress was a bit too cheap, but then again I'm quite a heavy guy so I can't really complain.

Can't wait to return!

We were very impressed with the quality and decor of the A'Zambezi lodge rooms and facilities. The rooms had spa-quality bathrooms, beautiful ceiling details with lovely mosquito nets built into the ceiling rails in a very chic way. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. The b.fast and dinner buffets had a wide variety of options. Highly recommend!

The rooms were renovated in March, 2011 and were some of the nicest we found in all of our 6 week trip throughout Africa. They are modern, very clean, have a deep lounging-type bathtub (with a head rest) and shower, lots of amenities, very effective air conditioning that's not too loud, and a nice heavy front foor. The bed has an easy to wrap around mosquito net as well. Our room had a plasma t.v.with lots of international channels, and an easy to use safe.

The meals are served in a large buffet and there is lots of very tasty things to choose from (including exotic animal meat). Beer is only $3 U.S. but water is a high $2 a bottle. There is free wifi but only one free computer for guests. Because the hotel is beside the river I would recommend wearing mosquito repellant since this is a malaria zone. We were buzzed only by the free computer. There are monkeys and warthogs on the grounds which are fun to watch. There is a free shuttle to the Waterfalls and back.

What really put this hotel over the top for us were the great rooms, and, the very friendly and helpful staff. Always a smile on their faces and wanting to help. We highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We highly recommend the helicopter tour over Victoria Falls and going to Victoria Falls Hotel for high tea in the afternoon. Both of these are well worth the price, and a highlight of of our time at Victoria Falls.
