My review may not be fair because we were at the hotel as part of a Globus tour with 20 guests and maybe the lodge is not set up to handle that many people at one time. However, food service was terrible. The first night they seated us at a table with fish orders one side and chicken orders on the other (Our tour guide had already placed the order during the day). The food then came out piecemeal with fish coming first and then the chicken. The first fish eaters were finished by the time the chicken eaters received their food. The next day at lunch there were only 10-12 of us and the food came out one dish at a time with the person served first being finished long before most of the other people were served.
Although not a crisis, there was no toilet paper in our room when we checked in. When we called and requested some, we received one half of a roll.

We stayed there for 3 days during a weekend trip to Victoria fall. The place is slightly far from city center and Vic fall, but the view and the rooms are gorgeous enough to make up for the distance. The restaurant in the lodge has delicious food and live performance at night. We loved it!

We were booked to stay here for two nights but due to an error on the part of the hotel, they accepted the booking and payment and failed to hold rooms for us, so not a good start to our stay. However the front desk manager Percy discovered their error and immediately arranged accommodation for us at their sister hotel,The Rainbow. In addition he drove us to the hotel and picked us up the next day so that we could stay at least one night here. We really appreciated the effort he went to to make up for their error. The buildings and grounds of the hotel are very attractive, and it was very nice to sit in the outdoor rooms and enjoy the surrounds and watch the warthogs eat the grass. The rooms were on the small side but modern and nicely decorated and clean. Each room had access to a balcony the runs the length of the building and offered a nice place to sit and enjoy the view. Our bathroom door scraped on the floor when closed, creating a tremendous noise. In addition the water was not running well on the afternoon we arrived, there seemed to be air in the pipes and the next morning there was no hot water and the shower stopped running altogether after a few minutes. We had to go to the front desk to get this fixed. The hotel was very responsive and I soon had a hot shower. The food and drinks were expensive and fairly ordinary. The breakfast buffet was extensive but could be improved with the addition of signs to explain what everything is. The staff were very friendly and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. Overall despite all the glitches this was a very nice hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a river facing room.

This hotel really offered more than expected. The rooms are spacious and very luxurious. We had an amazing buffet dinner at the hotel, with traditional dancers and drums... The hotel is on the river bank and offers amazing views, as well as a few resident warthogs.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful in arranging the best and most activities within the limited time we had.

Price wise, this is a steal, I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to pay 5 star prices, but have a 5 star experience.

Cannot really fault this place! OK, the rooms are a bit smaller than most hotels I've stayed in but its not the kind of hotel you spend much time in your room apart from sleeping. The only other criticism I can make is that the concierge attendant was a little over eager to book activities for us, resulting in a double booking and a cancellation fee!

Where do I even start? The entire experience was simply phenomenal. The facilities were fantastic - LOVE the open air dining, especially when 12 elephants decided to traipse through the property in search of food and stopped about 25 yards from the dining veranda. Everyone quit eating to take photos and watch the action unfold. We were never in danger but it was exquisite to see their feeding activities completely uncontrived. The food was without comparison as the chefs here far surpassed anything I had at another establishment. The variety was wonderful and the breakfasts were full and complete. The monkeys and warthogs are daily attractions but we also saw striped mongoose and many species of birds. Situated along the river as this facility is, you get a wonderfully tranquil and serene setting at any time of the day or night. The entire staff were genuinely warm and friendly from Joseph and Matika, the porters, to the reception staff to the wait staff in the dining room. I particularly want to mention Taffi, Patience, Charles and Benson as they were truly attentive and helpful. I am recommending this facility to everyone I know and am already trying to figure out how to come back next year. The only potential drawback is that the Wifi was not reliable in the rooms in the event that you truly needed to be connected to the outside world. But who had the time for that? Also just down the road about 200 meters was a crocodile center with very knowledgeable guides. Very informative and inexpensive ($5 USD). GO AND ENJOY!! You won't be disappointed!

August 2013 for 3 nights. Comfortable, clean room with a balcony overlooking the grounds, pool and Zambezi river.
Food was good, buffet for breakfast and evening meal. Some reviewers were unimpressed by the food which is local produce prepared in the local way, as it should be. You are in Africa not Paris, London or New York. As a Brit I have to say the bacon at breakfast was so delicious I'd go back just for that!
The staff were all friendly, cheerful and helpful. I needed an adapter for an electrical device so I called down to reception and minutes later someone came up to see what type I needed.
As it was a very brief trip we did not spend any time sitting by the pool but early morning and late afternoon we sat on our balcony and just enjoyed the peace and quiet and watching the warthogs mow the grass! We also walked around the surrounding bush area spotting waterbuck, monkeys, a mongoose troupe and many birds. 200m up the road is a crocodile "ranch" and shop - look out for the vultures that come to feed here!
Take the sunset river cruise, even with a boat load of tourists it manages to be a beautiful and even serene experience and the captain knows how to position the boat for some great photos of the sunset on the Zambezi. It's also another opportunity to spot local wildlife and we saw some hippos, an elephant, a giraffe and a pair of Fish Eagles.
It is less than 10 minutes drive into the town of Victoria Falls ( about $10 by taxi) and about 10 minutes to the Falls with a shuttle bus provided by the hotel. You could walk into town but although the road is good there is no pavement, no lights at night and you're going to get hot and sweaty.
We flew in to Livingston and so had to cross the Zambia / Zimbabwe border, without immigration it would probably have taken us about an hour to get from airport to hotel, add on at least an hour to get across, even with a guide.
