“Good option far from town and falls”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

We stayed as a part of Kiboko group of 16 for two nights. From the outside, hotel looks very modern two story horseshoe building with impressive entrance and good landscaping. The reception staff and public affairs person were very friendly and helpful. We got a nice room on the second floor overlooking the lawns, swimming pool a glimpses of Zambezi river. Room was rather small but had all the mod-cons, marble floor, bathtub and shower. Bedding, esp. the bottom sheet were thin and worn out, and all pillows were lumpy. I would expect better quality bedding in a 4 star hotel.
On the first night when I folded back the duvet, there was a large critter with wings trapped under my bottom sheet (could see it easily because the sheet was so thin). Subsequently, we spent 30 minutes chasing the bug that flew madly from corner to corner.
Buffet breakfast was adequate but hectic as is usual with the tour groups.
We had a a-la-carte dinner which was great the first night . We ordered exactly same meal next night but it was a lot worse:dry, poor vegetable....Serving staff was not knowledgeble what the dishes contain or what kind of wine by bottle is available.

Loved staying at this hotel while visiting Victoria Falls. My room was very spacious, very clean, and had everything I needed for my stay, including tea maker and mini-frigerator. My room had a sliding glass door between the room and bath, in addition to a regular bath door. WIFI worked well in room and breakfast offered many options. The restaurant is open-air and it was fun to see monkeys trying to steal sugar packets from empty tables, but the staff was great and chased them away. I watched with interest as the pool was covered late night so animals didn't try to take a swim. This hotel has a dance crew at night offering African dance around an open fire. I can go on and on, but you get the idea. NICE place to stay; plenty of things to do.

Room Tip: Try the zip line at Victoria Falls; you can arrange through the front desk. It's safe and a lot...

The hotel is delightfully set on the banks of the Zambezi. We were allocated a room in the second rear crescent which has no river view and we were a bit disappointed. The room was small for a 4* hotel but adequate. The hotel was full and there seemed to be a constant flow of groups which made the individual traveller feel a bit overwhelmed. The food was good including warthog and crocodile and entertainment continued throughout dinner. There is a constant pressure to tip everyone in US$ which became annoying as well as expensive. The staff were friendly but Zimbabwean Victoria Falls is no cheap option.

Loved the location. The chef has a great a'la carte menu served by efficient friendly staff. There is also a buffet that I didn't try. The rooms are clean and have a "turn down" service at night. I enjoyed having drinks by the pool. All of the staff go the extra mile. Thank you for a great stay.

- A'Zambezi Hotel - We stayed here for 2 nights in June to see Victoria Falls, we had a garden facing room which was very modern, clean with coffee facilities, a fridge and flat screen tv with 2 english movie channels. The bed was very comfortable, which was great after 22 hours of travelling. The food was of a good standard for Dinner and breakfast. The hotel was very peaceful , and is located outside the main town, however the hotel run a free shuttle bus. The pool was very quiet and relaxing with entertainment being the visit of warthogs on the lawn or monkeys. The staff were very attentive and made sure we were looked after during the 3 days, helping us organise our trips. The Sundowner cruise is worth doing in the evening , we had the opportunity to see Elephants, Hippo, Giraffe and a crocodile, but I think this was a lot of luck. I would definitely recommend the hotel, we had a lovely relaxing time. Victoria falls is just awesome and the helicopter ride definitely gave it different perspective. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My review may not be fair because we were at the hotel as part of a Globus tour with 20 guests and maybe the lodge is not set up to handle that many people at one time. However, food service was terrible. The first night they seated us at a table with fish orders one side and chicken orders on the other (Our tour guide had already placed the order during the day). The food then came out piecemeal with fish coming first and then the chicken. The first fish eaters were finished by the time the chicken eaters received their food. The next day at lunch there were only 10-12 of us and the food came out one dish at a time with the person served first being finished long before most of the other people were served.
Although not a crisis, there was no toilet paper in our room when we checked in. When we called and requested some, we received one half of a roll.

We stayed there for 3 days during a weekend trip to Victoria fall. The place is slightly far from city center and Vic fall, but the view and the rooms are gorgeous enough to make up for the distance. The restaurant in the lodge has delicious food and live performance at night. We loved it!
