You won't be unhappy here. I would definitely agree with another reviewer that this establishment deserves 3,5 stars. But 4 would be one too many, especially noting the standards you would normally expect from a four star rated establishment. Although I am aware that I may be imposing too much of an exacting standard since this is located in Zimbabwe.
The rooms were clean, comfortable and serviced daily, including a turn-down service. The room was a little small, which wasn't a problem for me since I mainly used it for sleeping and showering. Each room has a pleasant outdoor seating area on the balcony/terrace. I liked the fact that two complimentary bottles of water were provided on a daily basis. Meals are in a open restaurant facility which allows good views of the river and visiting wildlife. We saw monkeys, warthogs and even meerkats during our stay.
Meals were always freshly prepared, although more often just mediocre in taste and not befitting the exorbitant price. The rooms were also pricey. Although that could be the combination of the fact that this is a tourist location and that things are generally expensive in Zimbabwe as a whole. Service in the restaurant can often be extremely slow and it seemed as if staff had difficulties coping at times. However, they were always unfailingly polite, charming and pleasant. There is also daily evening entertainment in the form of traditional music and dance.
Probably be the best part of this place is the opportunity to watch the sunset over the Zambezi river.

This was a surprise special birthday visit for my wife and me.
We were greeted at VF airport by Shearwater, and looked after by them throughout our 4 day stay.
Check-in was satisfactorily handled, and we were shown to a clean, comfortable room.
Shearwater arranged a number of activities, including a guided walk to the Falls, a night game drive and bush dinner, and the highlight, a sunset cruise and dinner.
We had 3 breakfasts at A'Zambezi, the first 2 of which were great. However, on the final morning, the wheels seemed to fall off a bit, with many empty plates at the buffet, long waits for omelette fillings, and 1/2 hour to get some tea!
Our one evening meal was good, with very good local entertainment.
The hotel grounds are well-kept (despite the best efforts of the warthogs to damage the lawns!), good pool area, and friendly staff.
One downside was the lack of a number of drinks, significantly reducing the number of cocktails that could be served.
I would suggest that more could be made of the river frontage area to enhance the appeal and attraction of the hotel, but I would be happy to stay there again.

We especially liked and appreciated the birthday cake delivered to our room - a wonderful gesture!

Room Tip: The "front" rooms offer a slightly better view of the river and gardens.

We spent two nights at the A'Zambesi Lodge prior to commencing a Safari through Zimbabwe and Botswana. The hotel is located in delightful settings on the banks of the Zambesi River and a few kilometres out of town. Our twin room wasn't overly large but everything about the hotel was wonderful. The room was cosy, well watered lawns were extensive and the river bank setting was ever so relaxing and picturesque. Meals in the outdoor dining area were great, staff were pleasant and local cultural entertainment was provided at dinner times. The only thing the hotel needs to improve is the computerised check-in and check-out system which staff found difficult to operate which meant some extremely long waiting times. Fortunately the surroundings were lovely which made the wait less painful. I'd definitely recommend the lodge as a great place to stay for relaxation.

A'Zambezi River lodge has it all: excellent service, friendly, warm and very helpful staff, great food, lovely spacious rooms with comfortable outdoor space, and: location, location, location! A quick ten minute drive from the Falls themselves (a free shuttle service is provided), this lodge on the banks of the Great Zambezi river provides a tranquil and gorgeous setting from whence to enjoy all the adventure and beauty the Falls have to offer. You get much more than you pay for. We literally had no complaints, and highly recommend this lodge for all visitors to Vic Falls.

Room Tip: Go for the river facing rooms - great views!

We stayed here in May 14 for two nights and it thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A fabulous location right on the rivers edge and the rooms looking out towards the river were well appointed and comfortable. The staff were super friendly and helpful and very attentive to our needs. Dining in the outdoor dining area was a pleasure and the food was wonderful. The distance from Vic Falls town and the Falls themselves wasn't a problem - they had regular shuttles available although we didn't need them as all our activities were pre-booked.

We stayed at A'Zambezi two nights at the beginning of our safari trip & one night at the end, and it was an absolute pleasure. The location is beautiful - right on the serene riverbank. I definitely recommend the rooms facing the pool and river. I would recommend staying here over the places in town as it is more peaceful, scenic, and relaxing. Town can be a bit tiring and overwhelming after a while, and the A'Zambezi is a welcome oasis. The hotel offers a free shuttle, tour operators will pick you up for activities, and taxis to town are about $10 if needed.

The hotel is clean and beautifully appointed. I loved relaxing in the open common areas and watching the warthogs mow the lawn. The vervet monkeys are endlessly entertaining, and we were fortunate to see a group of about 30 mongooses stop by! It was relaxing to stroll under the trees along the river. The patios outside each room offer a private space to enjoy the outdoors. Breakfast was varied and plentiful.

I've saved the best for last. The staff are absolutely outstanding - truly kind, welcoming, and hospitable. On our return at the end of our safari tour, the staff went out of their way to accommodate me as I was very ill. They made arrangements to get me a room early, stopped by a few hours later in person to check on me, to offer to call a doctor, and to make a special homemade electrolyte solution for me. Another staff member whom we had befriended at the beginning of our stay made a special effort to stop by at turndown service to make sure that I was OK and to wish me well. Thank you to all of the A'Zambezi staff - you are wonderful people.

Highly recommended overall!

P.s. Please give special regards to Tarisai from Gina and Uncle Bead.

Room Tip: Select a room facing the pool and river for beautiful views.
