Wanting a 'local' Valentine treat, I booked at the VFSC. Booking online direct was a reasonably easy affair including booking a table for dinner the first evening.
Arriving by road from Bulawayo I inadvertently went past the VFSC entrance which isn't signed from the driveway. A little confusion arose at the VFSL reception when I said I was trying to book in for Safari Club. However, all was soon sorted, our case magically disappeared. We were made welcome in the bar / lounge area and given information about Safari club and shown to our room. Only some of which have a view of the VFSL water hole. (ours did!). Aircon and lights can be left on, although card operated. We were staying for four nights which I think is unusual, as most out of the country tourists, stay maybe one or two nights.
Unusually, there is a complimentary bar fridge stocked with a bottle each of red and white wine, 4 beers, four soft drinks, two bottles of water. A hors d'oeuvre dish with nuts and hand made chocolates. Coffee in sachet, ground and espresso (with a machine!), have never seen such a choice (tea of course)! All promptly topped up twice a day. Complimentary tea and cake, also one sun-downer and snack each afternoon / evening. Free Wi-Fi, just ask for a card. Private breakfast in your room or in the lounge area exclusive to residents of VFSC although you can use all the VFSL amenities. The staff were all very helpful indeed. Beds were turned down each evening, bottled water and clean glasses left, along with a small gift. One night someone even made an elephant out of a towel!! Minor criticism, the chocolate and nut snack wasn't replenished after they were finished after two days I do think those staying more that two nights may well expect a 'fridge replenishment although we didn't consume all ours. One evening we received no water or glasses. However this did not affect our enjoyment, would we go again? Yes! Thanks to all for an enjoyable stay.
