Description: Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, Nam Took is an Asian Restaurantin central Victoria Falls adding to the cosmopolitan cheerful buzz of tourists and locals who will be quick and eager to recommend this great restaurant. Located just 800m from The Falls, Nam Took is situated upstairs under a welcoming, cool and high thatch roof looking out over riverine bushveld and beyond, out to the Victoria Falls Spray rising up into sky. The restaurant serves authentic Asian and all dishes including are cooked to order. Chef's recommendations to diners include daily specials but the spring rolls and spicy Tom Yum Prawn Soup are firm local favourites.

And that's certainly true of the Nam Took restaurant! This delightful restaurant, situated upstairs in the Elephant's Walk Shopping Mall, was highly recommended to us by (several) Victoria Falls' locals so decided to give it a try for lunch. What a most enjoyable dining experience that turned out to be with it's authentic, beautifully prepared Thai and Chinese food (thank you chef Toy) at such reasonable prices and exceptional service. Soups and mains seem to start at about US$8 a dish, with desserts from about US$3. How good is that, especially when it's quality plus.
Added to this is the atmosphere of this newly opened restaurant: it's happy, if you know what I mean! The dining and bar area is light and airy and decorated with brightly coloured Chinese lanterns and African pots, lovely teak tables with, again, brightly coloured table mats - and traditional chopsticks available if you so wish.
We enjoyed our visit so much that we made up a small group and went along a couple of days later for dinner where we were warmly greeted and welcomed by host Andy and chef Toy before sitting down to partake of another culinary delight! The Nam Took is highly recommended - we'll certainly be back next year during our annual visit to Zimbabwe.

Dear guest, thank you for your comprehensive and uplifting review, and it's feedback like you have given that make the staff passionate about their work. Your leading comments about the 'locals' is at the forefront of our thinking, as we believe if the locals enjoy and support the restaurant, visitors will soon follow.

We look forward to welcoming you on your return next year.

We enjoyed dinner and cocktails at Nam Took on a Friday night in July 2014. The food and service were quite good. Our only suggestion for Andy and Cindy (the owners, who took the time to visit with us at the table!) is to have a light installed at the corner leading into the Elephant Walk shops parking lot. We almost turned back because the road was so dark but were glad that we had braved it because it turned out to be such a great meal.

Thank you for your review which we much appreciate. As you pointed out supplies of Thai & Chinese products are not easy, so chef Toy makes her own rice paper for our Spring Rolls, and makes our own noodles, which are an integral part of many dishes.

Not often in a small town in Africa do you come across authentic Thai food!!! The owner is Thai and due to the lack of a local Thai supermarket. Makes everything herself. Delicious. Spoilt for choice. Reasonable. And most of all authentic. Great meal.

I visited for a friends lunch and was surprised by the quietness given the lack of international cuisines, the large menu and the prices. I recommend ordering a large number of starters and mains to share. The food is delicious, the service attentive, no fault to be found on my visit. The location is tucked away-upstairs in Elephants walk so think that must be why they are quiet. Definitely worth seeking out!
