we stayed in the embasoira building for 3 nights and paid 1100 in local currency. hotel has a prime location near Downtown and in the diplomatic area. breakfast was included and was acceptable.

the hotel is somewhat worn just like the country itself but Clean enough and very safe.

once in a while they ran out of supplies like beer and coffe but electricity and hot water was Always ok. wifi was not good. it's better in other hotels in the city.

PRO. Spacious well lit room with TV, good bed, clean bathroom, nice views. Above-average dinners in dining room. Average bar. Good cold beer. Nice reception. WIFI works better here than in most hotels in town. Good price ($45), discount for UN. Friendly staff. Grat location, walking distance to Main Street and restaurants, cafes, stores.

CON. No hair drier, poor selection of TV channels. Not much action in the evening. Breakfast is marginal at best and could be better.

we arrive Asmara and direct drive to embasoira hotel (it known also by IMPERIAL hotel) mid. of sep. 2012 and we choose it by this site ,, every things is good but the tricks of reception guys ,
they give you price but didn`t mention it`s in which currency (local or US Dollar) ,, also there`s no price list appears at all (at list at that time we arrive and all days we stay) .
after 7 days when we check out they give us total bill around 800$ for each , as i calculated it suppose to be 8000NFK for each (local currency) they argue with me stand on they give me the price in US dollars which is not truth,, at all they shows a lot of unprofessional hotels spoken, behavior and treatment specially reception guy he`s name`s (eddy) relay it`s my first time sawing reception person speaking in he`s way .
at all it`s nice place to stay if u avoid that currency trick they make it .
