“Excellent hotel but the bathroom lets it down”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

This is a good hotel, not cheap at $150 per night but the staff make up for it.

The rooms are large and airy but the need to be as there is an absence of air conditioning. Tea making facilities are provisions in the room.

The rooms are large and airy with balconies, but they need to be given the absence of air conditioning.

I'm not sure why though, but African hotels always seem to fall short on the bathrooms. In this case it's dirty grout, leaking shower and a lack of hot water.

While the rooms are expensive everything else is cheap with beer from the mini bar at just over a dollar and cheese burger and fries just over $5 (and that's room service).

The hotel has a pool, not overly large but clean and there is a airport collection service.

All in all a good hotel and you could do a lot worse.

The hotel is tidy, however the rooms would need some refurbishment. Public areas are OK.

The staff is friendly and efficient and breakfast buffet quite comprehensive and good.

Please note that the hotel is not a part of the Intercontinental chain, so if you expect it, you will be disappointed. If you want to stay in an international hotel, you should then consider either Hilton or Radisson.

We stayed here on our last night in Ethiopia. The lobby bar is pleasant ,though busy, and service there was quick and professional. The room was nice, decent size bed, plent of power points, and a good bathroom. The view from the balcony was over a building site, but as there was a mix up over our booking, and we were lucky to get a room at all, this is a minor gripe!Dinner was surprisingly ok, and our early breakfast the next morning was too.The staff were friendly and willing to help with any query.A much ,much better choice than the Hilton, where we spent our first 2 nights, wish we had been at this hotel instead.

I stayed for 4 days at a corner suite with wive & little boy. Big room with a bathroom that looks 20 years old, still it is only 5 years old.
Lots of noise coming from the huge lobby, the view from the room is one big construction site.
The chef can't boil a soft-boiled egg. We paid 275$ pro night.
Overpriced, much overpriced, there a hotels with better standards for the half price in Addis...
The Jupiter hotel by example...
We will never return to this place.

I have stayed in the intercontinental for a business stay. My colleagues had recommended the hotel, saying that it was the best value in town. The positive points:
- the facilities in the hotel: you have a nice gym, a swimming pool, a beauty salon and everything you need. You don't have as many shops as in the Hilton but it is widely enough
- The lounge/restaurant: it is not too expensive, the service is good and fast and you can ask for specific orders
- The rooms are decorated with modern furniture and are quite big and comfortable
- It is well located
- There is a very good atmosphere there: a long of professionals talking together, etc. It is nice to meet new people

The negative aspects:
- you can't get any discount there, even if you decided to stay for a much longer period of time: it is company policy not to grant anything while there; you have to do that through the internet before coming apparently
- The internet: it does not work properly and there is no wireless in the rooms: you have to plug with a wire and it would not even work in one of our rooms
-The breakfast: given the importance of agriculture in the country, you would expect fresh juices ans bakeries but no: it looks like everything is industrial
- The service: they are not always on top of the game (you have sometimes to wait for a long time when you call the room service)

Having had a look at the other hotels, it is indeed the best value: if you are willing to pay more you can go to the Sheraton, very nice and luxurious hotel. I did not like the Hilton, despite the fact that they have a lot of stores there: the service was quite bad/expensive and it looks very 70's

Room Tip: Make sure you have asked for a queen/king size bed as for some of us that did not specify it, they g...

Stayed here for one night only which was enough. The staff at the hotel are pretty good and try to provide good service. The restaurant breakfast was horrible. No wait, it was worse than that. The room was pretty basic and wasn't in a good state of repair. Whilst this is Addis the hotel provides only modest accommodation at best. Will try another hotel next time.

This is of course no Intercontinental Hotel but a local government run Hotel. the place is clean and as good as it gets if you do not want to stay in the two big hotels. As any Hotel here packed with aid workers and visitors to the UN. Very close to UN and international agencies. Many constructions around the Hotel. good for business travel.
