Four of us were taken here by car by an Ethiopian friend. We had a superb tour inside the church at the top of the hill, amazing paintings about 150 years old, with a lot of background in Coptic Christianity from a very good guide. We were also shown the little church from 700 years ago which is hewn out of rock. Further down the hill, passing ladies bent double with bundles of eucalyptus wood, we were taken round the museum (great if you are interested in embroidery) and the remains of the palace. Also another excellent guide. We didn't go into the church on this compound - looks colourful from the outside but maybe not so interesting inside? Excellent views over Addis at this and various points on the way down. Sharamida is the place if you want to buy traditional clothes.

We had a ride to the top and saw the sites, but the long walk down was a cultural trip I'll never forget. Our walking partners were locals carrying large bundles and just flying by us. Not to be missed.

Close to the city center. Our driver took us there and back in about 1.5 hours and we did the the full tour of the museum and church at the top of the hill.

There's a local guy with a bit of hustle at the entrance. He takes you about the grounds and gives you a great lesson on the history of Ethiopia and Addis. I think we paid $5USD for the 2 of us. A bit of hustle - but worth it.

We got great photos and were able to see a small piece of what everyday life is like for Addis residents.

Enjoy the best views on Addis Ababa city while breathing in fresh eucalyptus air. The hill also house some old churches and museums.

It is a short route away from the Addis University and the route leading up to the hill top is scenic, cool and has a good view of the city with trees towards the hill side. The spot itself has nothing more to offer except for a small museum, church and the old palace. The museum is small with some robes and holy books kept on display and no cameras are allowed. The entrance fee is steep @ 50 Birr and local guides are available for a small tip. The so called palace is behind the Church and it actually is a couple of huts and and can pass off as a dwelling of any villager in rural India. Nothing much to write about the whole place. Just go if there is nothing else to do or nowhere else to go. Go with friends for a short break, enjoy the cool weather, take some snaps and expect nothing more.
