Review of Maluti Mountains

Maluti Mountains
Ranked #2 of 13 things to do in Maseru
Attraction details
Reviewed 2 July 2014 via mobile

Having spent a busy day working between Maseru and Botha Bothe we continued northwards into the Maluti mountains (50 km) until the tar road ended at the Oxbow Lodge. The journey was incredibly scenic with frozen rivers, beautiful vistas and spectacular views. The Oxbow Lodge was a welcome site as the temperature dropped to freezing. The rooms were small but functional, the meals hearty and the service staff efficient and helpful.

Both the drive and the lodge are highly recommended.

The Maluti Mountains provide some of the best scenery I've seen in a very long time! Don't miss the views when visiting beautiful Lesotho.
Hint: the film The Forgotten Kingdom is an excellent choice when interested in the Mountains!

Maluti mountains are really worth the trip ! Just take care of not getting lost ! But don't worry, if it happens, you'll always find helpful people and you'll manage to understand each other despite the barrier language. We had such an experience and we are not going to forget it!

The scenery is so beautiful. There are people living near the road everywhere in small communities and the views are just jaw-dropping. I will be replaying these images in my head for years to come.

We drove up these roads during the morning time. Looked at the view and took some pics. When we decided to turn around and go back to Maseru we came in to heavy rain and thunder. It made the experience extra memorable.

The scenery is amazing. The view is great. The narrow roads can be dangerous, so the driver must be at watch at all times. But take it easy and it'll be fine. It's all safe. The villages you'll pass are great for photos and the locals love to be photographed.

Make sure, if you go, that you'll get the sunset up there. That calls for unbelievable pictures, believe me.
