Conveniently located not far from the south western side of the medina and about 10 minutes' brisk walk to Green Square, the Al-Safeer is on a relatively quiet street just off busy Omar El Mukhtar Street, behind the Four Seasons 1 Hotel. We found it to be spotlessly clean, both in the bedrooms and the public areas. There is free wi-fi throughout much of the hotel (ask for a room with a wi-fi signal when you check in, if it is important to you) and a comfortable reception area with sofas and coffee tables. The rooms are of adequate but not generous size with functioning bathrooms (ours had a bath with a shower over it), air conditioning, a TV with Fox movies (Hollywood films every evening in English with Arabic subtitles) and a fridge. The breakfast buffet is good and if you find yourself having dinner in the hotel's 7th floor restaurant you won't be disappointed with the food, although you may be the only person eating there. But the real benefit of this hotel is the helpful and friendly staff, particularly the receptionists. They mostly speak English, to a greater or lesser degree, and will tell you how to get places, recommend restaurants, confirm your flights, get the right stamps in your passport if you are in Libya for longer than a week and so forth. A double with breakfast costs 120LD.
Anywhere else I'd rate this as 3 out of 5, but for Libya it's definitely a 4.
