We stayed here for a night before moving on to our hotel in the Northwest. The hotel was clean, the food was fine and there is a pool and bar area. They have a spa on the premises as well. As it was merely a night stay over I felt that this was a tad far from the airport. All in all an average hotel.

Spent a night here on way to Anjajavy. The hotel is clean, rooms decent, service good and food good. Overall what you would expect from a 3 * hotel anywhere in the world. Between 30 min to 45 minutes from the airport.

If we returned we would probably look for something closer to the airport as it was merely an overnight stop.

Overall good experience - clean hotel, relatively small but stylish rooms. More than adequate.
Internet access worked most of the time and was of a reasonably good speed (most of the time). Their support desk will sort out any issues within 15 minutes, in person - good service.
The trip from the airport takes quite long - it passes through a part of town with narrow streets. Took me 70 minutes on a mid-week afternoon and about 50 minutes on Saturday at lunchtime.

The restaurant food was more than adequate. We had nice lunches (conference), and dinners were pretty good too. It seems many local expats visit the place for dinner as well - the dining area is stark and lacks any atmosphere, though. Prices are fair!

Breakfast is below average, IMO. Bread is good, basic cheeses as well, but the remainder (including the reconstituted scrambled egg, and unappetizing looking hams etc), fell short of expectations. The coffee was very good, though, and service generally helpful and attentive.

My return shuttle was not available so they organized me a local taxi.

Biggest NEGATIVE: the hotel was full of mosquitos, and I even had some in the room (they live inside aircon). The conference room was FULL of mosquitos! Reception had no spray, just one of those useless electronic gadgets. Take your own sprays along and really - the hotel should have some spraying regime - it's disconcerting being at conference and constantly having mosquitos buzz you!

One last word - not relating to hotel: Mada is a poor country but I didn't enjoy a few things that happened in quick succession:

1) the taxi driver (organized by hotel) tried to 'extort' extra money, despite agreeing to the amount with the hotel and with myself at the start - says petrol is very expensive (quoted a price that is nearly 100% more than published reality at the pump stations - he was lying).

2) a tout at the airport trying similar trick - gave me the departure form and then wanted money

3) the airport official doing the final check prior to the x-ray machine (weighed my hand luggage) tried to extort a bribe! My hand luggage was 2 kg overweigh and I could have quickly resolved by wearing my jacket and putting on my heavy shoes, yet he said "it's ok" but do I have a gift for him. So very blatant and simply unacceptable! So just BEWARE

Room Tip: I was on an upper level floor overlooking the pool.

Antananarivo is crowded, congested, dirty, Traffic is horrible, and a LOT of Mosquitios !!!!

Now for the BAD things .....

Ok that was Just for grins. BUT.... The Ibis was a perfect hotel for a day or 2 layover waiting for a connecting flight.

Food ... not bad.... staff .... friendly...BUT inexperienced.

Overall it is close to grocery and Wine shops....duty free is very near.... Souvenir shopping is 10 mins away

45 mins from airport during busy time 30 mins on low traffic

You wont be disappointed in your stay here.

Rooms are a bit Tacky and uncomfortable.....my wife says VERY uncomfortable

Be advised !!!

It's a decent hotel with a reasonable price - typically what the ibis brand is known to offer. Food is actually very good if you like french cuisine; quite exquisitely prepared. Hotel is a little 'boring' as its all business and corporate lile. But its alright if you're indeed here on business. Personally I'd prefrr boutique hotels like sakamanga whrre its got more local colours n more fun.

Only stayed one night as a stopover in Tananarivo.
good service, rooms are clean.
With a design typical of the ibis chain.
Breakfast is pretty standard, but the glass roof makes it more comfortable in a way.
Somehow a lot of mosquitoes managed to enter into the restaurant area, be sure to be covered against them.
