“A really great day trip!”
Review of Croc Farm

This makes an excellent day trip if you have some spare time in Antananarivo. A return taxi from the city centre was good value (40,000 Ar return for four of us). The park is wonderful. not just crocodiles, but also lemurs, birds, reptiles, giant tortoises. We were given the opportunity to hold a lot of the reptiles and get in with the giant tortoises. Best of all, try and come at 1pm for feeding time in the main croc pond.

The restaurant serves lots of croc meat, quite fun, but not delicious!

The road to the farm is very rough but well worthwhile. We hired a taxi from Antananarivo for 30,000 Ar and he waited for 3 hours while we toured the farm. Lots of wildlife to see such as crocs and lemurs. Ask a guide which ones to pet as the tortoise and the lemurs and hold the tree boa. Also must try the croc burger or medallions. Very tasty. The souvenirs are too pricey but the admission of 10,000 Ar is worth it.

If you are not spoiled by visiting parks in Tanzania or Kenya (and even if you - you came all the way to Madagascar), you should not miss the croc farm Ivato. It does not take long time to visit, and it is better than repacking your suitcase for another hour. But you do see lots of crocs, a few sifakas, and many turtles... and even a fosa. You can have a meal at the farm's restaurant - of course you should try croc's meat there. The entrance fee is 10,000 ariary (about $4). You will also see some colourful villages on the way to the venue. Close to the airport, so it may be combined with the outbound trip.

The road to the farm is what they call here "secondary road" - not very promising but when you reach the farm you enter a private very nicely set and maintained farm with multiple types of local "animals" , a huge number of small crocodiles sun bathing and a significan number of older large crocodiles.

The lemurs and other animals are just a nice bonus

Better maintained than I expected. Located a little off the beaten track, I walked from Ambohidratrimo. Friendly, knowledgable guide and an average 10,000ar to get in.
