Small hotel yet staff with big-hearted smile, friendliness and helpful. Both standard rooms and suites are spacious, clean and comfortable. The suite comes with mini kitchenette. The internet connection was good. They even had double windows!! One with double glazed panes. Really keeps out the noise. Everything in the room works well.

Simple reception area (24-hrs) yet has great ambience. No lift up to the rooms. But a little walking up won't hurt. 24-hrs reception services and for double security, they will secure the main door and gate after 11pm.

Though no F&B outlets, it's very conveniently located. There's some very good restaurants within 5 mins ' walk. Safe to walk there for dinner and back. Less than 10 min's walk to the city center too.

Security-wise, it is good as there's some big embassies nearby. However, it's always wise not to wander about after sundown.

What we love best is; the warmth and personal touch of both the hotel's boss and his staff makes us feel at home.

Just a little down side though - it would be great if they have better english-speaking staff. We had a hard time communicating.

Not recommended for people with physical disabilities

Overall - It's value for money. I would definitely come back again on my next trip.

I was quite happy with my stay at the Palm Hotel. I was there for work and stayed in a "suite"--which was quite large. I received a slightly discounted rate, because I stayed for 9 1/2 nights... so paid a little less than $100/night. I made my reservation by contacting the property directly. They have a website and use email. To pay I was able to use my VISA card (the only credit card they accept).

They had reliable ADSL internet in the rooms (connected via ethernet cable) and I was able to use it for Skype and work email, no problem. There was a fridge, microwave, and sink in the room as well as an electronic safe. The bed was comfortable. They had ~32 LCD TV in the room which was nice; most of the channels were in French or Malagasy. But you could almost always find a BBC program on in English. The cleaning staff was in every day and the room stayed clean. The AC worked great and always had hot water in the shower.

I just wish that you could dead-bolt the door. The doors used a key-card system of sorts but no dead bolt and also no card to hang outside the door to say "busy/privacy" or "don't clean" or "please clean."

The place has no elevator and is about 4 or 5 stories high. I was on the 3rd floor. But it wasn't a problem for me. It is a small hotel but there was 24hr front desk staff and lots of clients in and out. There is no restaurant in the hotel but they do have limited breakfast service and a bar (I had an egg one day; did not use the bar).

The hotel is close to the downtown area--shops, restaurants, etc (and was very close to our office). The only downside is that Tana is rather unsavory at night... especially in that area. It is very dark (not many street lights) and lots of prostitutes around. You have to watch out for crime. I didn't have any problems, but it could be an issue.

This hotel is a real juwel in the jungle of antananarivo. The recently
renovated rooms are clean, quiet and offer lots of comfort as well as a reliable laundry service. Bathrooms with hot water and a selection of malagassy soaps and a safe in the room as well as aircon.

I stayed there twice during November 2007 and I felt very much at home
and really comfortable. Even though the hotel has no restaurant, there
are many top-end restaurants nearby, so that's no hassle.

The hotel is conveniently close to the main shopping street (av. de l'independance) where you will also find the Air Madagascar office as well as many local tour operators. At least four banks are within 5 minute walking distance.

Last but not least the hotel is in one of the safest neighbourhoods in Tana (most major embassies are nearby), a big plus.

I really recommend this hotel for anyone who is in search of some comfort and retrait from the noisy city. The staff is great and very helpfull, at any day or night time.

we stayed there once and repeated, because the hotel is brand-new, very-very confortable, right in the city center and the staff were helping us in all what we needed (a doctor included...).
