We were spending two nights at the hotel before traveling to visit the Lemur Project in Marojejyi National Park. We were very pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. Amenities included free wireless internet, breakfast in a lovely cafe downstairs, and a nice french press coffee and hot pot. There was adequate water (hot as well). I personally loved the windy path way to get to our rooms, and all the staff were courteous and efficient. The restaurant served delicious food, so much so that we ate lunch and dinner there twice.
The one downside which led me to giving it a 4 star is that only on the second night in the new rooms near the pool did we have a mosquito net. Madagascar has quite a lot of Malaria, and a net is not a difficult thing to provide. We have traveled extensively in Africa and in endemic areas there have always been Mosquito nets. For the price, a net should be provided. The last night in the newer room, the net was very nice. Fortunately we were taking malaria prophylaxis, but this was a concern. In the middle of the chaos of Tana, this little hotel is charming.More
