First, some clarifications; this restaurant is NOT in the hippodrome restaurant strip, although it is near. Then, it is really two restaurants, a creperie, which is very nice, and has great gourmet salads, and a resto gastronomique, which provides a very nice dining experience. This place is a winner in my book, if ONLY for the fact that it is the only place in town to get "ris de veau" [actually that's probably not quite true, I bet you get calf thymus is MANY restaurants in Bamako without even ordering it.] For a restaurant that styles itself high end, there are choices that are less expensive, and there are decent half-bottles on the wine list [which is fairly rare in BKO]. I was there last week, and while I had a pleasant experience, I did note a couple negatives [which takes it down to 4/5]; the wonderful bread they had served was now just baguettes, and my pommes dauphinois were not very hot. They still do an amuse-bec [little teeny appetizers that they provide for free] but they were a trifle less exotic than in the past. All in all, great place for an occassional splurge [or every night if someone else is paying!]
