“Niger River, Native Villages Mud huts alive and well”
Reviewed 24 January 2012

I did not know that life was so untouched in parts of this world - it is untouched. The pace is slow, the weather hot, the river filled with hand hewn canoes, people washing themselves and clothes. . . sheep in the street, donkey carts a staple, and the cell phone - everywhere!! but not in the villiage. Rustic, authentic, not made for tourism yet. . . good if you know someone vs. visit - but some hotels - the Grand Hotel seemed nice and Rotary hosts their meeting there. Get Taxi's. . .

“Bamako is in a fly in to and leave city”
Reviewed 11 November 2011

A large, noisy, crowded city with few charms. We were there two days at the beginning of our trip and a day when we returned to fly home. The rest of Mali is much more interesting and there is lots to see and do. Bamako could easily be skipped.
