We stayed here for a few weeks while looking for a house to move in.

Staff is nice and friendly.
The restaurant is good and clean with a beautiful view of the river, even if the menu is a bit limited if you're planning for an extended stay.
Rooms are spacious with AC, ceiling fan and mosquito nets (even if we saw only isolated mosquitoes here and there).

Overall, recommended. They have a dependance with larger rooms across the road but it does not yet have a generator and you will need to go back and forth with the main building for the pool/restaurant/etc..

During an evening meal at this hotel during the third night of our visit, we were fortunate enough to find this gem of a hotel on the banks of the Niger river. Unfortunately, we were not able to move to this hotel for some time because of no vacancy. Eventually we able to finish our last week at this hotel and what a fine way to end our trip in Mali. The rooms are nicely decorated and all had a view of the river from the room's patio. There was free internet, a delicious breakfast (a tasteful omelet was a little extra) with a generous serving of good coffee. To top it all off, the diner specials were some of the best meals I ate during my stay in Bamako. I really don't know why this hotel has not been discovered by trip adviser.

Super friendly staff, stunning view of the Niger, great pool to cool down after a day in the Malinese sun and a location that is nicely tugged away from the BKO buzz: The only drawback is that it's a bit far from the city center and it's hard to get a taxi in evenings.
We'll recommend it to everyone visiting Mali.

A great little guest house on a fairly quiet road running alongside the far bank of the River Niger. I like the fact that it was extremely close to where I was working each day (a word to the wise: if there for business be sure to stay on the same side of the Niger as your work venue). Villa Soudan is very clean and well-kept, small, intimate, and with an exceptionally friendly and responsive staff. It has a nice little outdoor restaurant, a small but decent pool, and a nice poolside area to relax with drinks. There is internet in the room, although during the time I was there (over six weeks) the signal strength was highly variable, and some of my colleagues had no signal in their rooms at all. A signal booster might therefore be a good thing to bring along. Bear in mind that like many places in Mali, Villa Soudan is cash only.

My colleagues and I had the pleasure of staying at the recently opened (3 months prior) Villa Soudan during a business trip to Mali. Having traveled to various parts of Mali during this trip I can honestly say that this 12-room hotel was a pleasure to return to following a busy day of navigating the overcrowded streets of Bamako. Villa Soudan is tucked away on a quiet street directly alongside the Niger River so every room features amazing river views. Additionally, every room has cable TV, air-conditioning & ceiling fan(s). We stayed in two “apartments” which are basically suites located on the top floor. They came with 1.5 baths, a refrigerator and sink but no stove or microwave. The hotel will gladly provide dishes and utensils upon request. The small staff is pleasant and accommodating. Our wireless internet didn’t actually work in the room so we often surfed the internet while sitting under the thatched roof cabana, which afforded us the opportunity to also mingle with other guests over drinks. There is African art everywhere you turn and all the rooms are tastefully appointed.
