The physical location is fantastic, with the Indian Ocean on one side and the wide Komati river on the other side of this narrow peninsula. Brave ocean waves roll in a on a clean beach, where you can enjoy nice shade underneath the beachside eucalyptus trees.
The hotel room however was stale. It had cooking facilities but those were grimy. The full-service restaurant operated more slowly than average for Mozambique.
If you're going, I would make it a daytrip. Also be mindful that to cross the ferry at Maracuene in order to reach this peninsular location, you can spend an hour or two waiting.
If you want to spend the night, there are better hotel and restaurant values up the peninsula, although the geographic location is not as fantastic as the Macaneta holiday resort. Think Lugar do Mar and Jake's if you want to overnight or enjoy decent facilities.
