This place is quite annoying: the rooms are not ok, old and dirty, there is no hot water in the shower even after waiting for a long.....long......time and the management just doesn't seem to care much at all. Arrogant people (!). Shameful to pick a name like they have done, honestly haven't had such a bad place in Africa before. I had to stay here on a business trip, but left after one night. Wouldn't spend a penny again if I had the choice.

Awful place. Dirty room, disgusting food, rude and sarcastic management. Wouldn't stay here again even if I was paid to do so.

We stayed here for 1 night at the beginning of an explore touring holiday. Our room was very basic but functional. Childrens room was a little better decorated.
Positives.
Bar and outdoor area were very nice with acceptable level of service.
Clean
Breakfast was adequate.
Smooth check in and check out.
Walking distance to Joes Beer House.
Negatives
Noisy.
Rooms needed modernising.
Out of town.

Having had the unfortunate experience of staying a week at this hotel, conducting training for our company's staff in one of the conference rooms (not the one shown on the website!), it would take me a long time to list all the gripes I have. My biggest complaint is the shockingly poor, disgusting attitude of the management of this hotel! They have NO interest whatsoever in their guests' wellbeing.

In a week of staying at the hotel and paying for 5 days of conference facilities and catering; not once did anyone from management ask if we were satisfied with the service, food, arrangements or anything else! They really couldn't care less.

Unfortuantely I took ill whilst there, and was unable to eat breakfast or lunch one day (for which I had paid). In the evening I asked at reception if I could have a bread roll eat. This request had to be referred to the manager/owner, who when asked hesitated and then when agreed, escorted me to bread to ensure that that was all I took from the buffet!!

I will ensure that our company never uses this venue again!

We loved it here. Had 3 days at the beginning of a business trip and decided to stay here. We could walk in to town through the neighborhoods (avoiding the busy roads) and at night, walk to Joe's Beer Garden. The staff was wonderful. We left and stayed a all 4 star hotels for 2 weeks and Roof of Africa easily could compete with any of them.

All maybe ok, but they are totallt arrogant and smug. They are really doing you a favour by allowing you to stay at this crappy establishment.

This is the second time i stayed at this hotel. My first review had some concerns about security but management have tightened security so now these concerns are gone. Staff wear uniforms, better lights and door locks being replaced.

Namibia has always been a safe place with a low crime rate. This sadly seems to change now with an increase in petty thefts, so security is important. Never leave valuables in your room, not even in a room safe. This is a general advice regardless where you stay, not directed to this hotel only.

Now, Roof of Africa is a splendid place to stay at. It is located a few kilometers from the city centre. Just take a taxi if you want to go shopping, they are easy to get and cheap, about Nam$ 40 to city centre.

I had a luxury room and I believe it cost Nam$ 850. This includes high speed internet in the room (wired, wire in room). If you don't stay in a room with internet, wireless internet is available by purchasing vouchers at the reception. And finally, if you don't bring your own computer, a guest computer is available at the bar.

Roof of Africa has a small swimming pool, a small animal garden with turtles a goat and some birds. Fun for the kids. In the evening they have a very good buffet. Breakfast is included in the room price, also very good.

But if you love beer and good food, the hotel is only 5 min walk from the famous Joes Beerhouse.

I can recommend this hotel anyone that want to stay a few days in Windhoek, go for the luxury rooms. The basic ones are cheap and clean but no frills. Parking is inside the hotel walls and has 24h security.
