I liked this place. When I wanted to do safari and they couldn't get enough people to it, they arranged it with another company. The WIFI is good. Walking distance to the city center, or take a taxi for 10 namibian dollar. I got my own key to the dorm and there was also lockers in the dorm. Some of the toilets and shovers could have been a bit cleaner, but I don't mind. The free breakfirst is nice. 2 pancakes and a cup of coffe.

A fairly decent place stay if one is not picky. We stayed in a twin room worth although aged furnishings, the rooms are very clean and tidied. The Stevie on the other hand left a lot to be desired. The hostesses were ate more interested in what was happening on social networks of their phones. We tried to get information (on arrival) about the activities to do. They only managed to advice the mall. We were left to do our own exploring. The last they could have done was to offer fiend in areas to avoid. The next day was better though when they recommended a desert tour (nor quite sure what had happened to their phones for that rate moment of attention. But overall, the place I'd decent and was a pleasant stay. N the bar got busy at night and quite noisy to with non residence to thus a need to be extra careful with valuables. But for the amount payed for the stay, who can complain?

We arrived quite late and could only find a camping place in the Cardboard Box.
But in the morning encountered friendly staff who was willing to provide information and advice.
The center location, about 10 minutes walk from the center mall, was very convenient.
Stayed only one night, as from there we went to the airport to get our rental car and start the true trip of Namibia. Our first impression of Windhoek, especially after visiting the mall, was of a relatively modern city, in which you could find anything you needed for the current trip.
The trip to the airport and to the rental cars takes about 45 minutes, and only a certain type of cabs is allowed to do that trip.
Our nicest experience in Windhoek itself was to see African Santa's taking pictures with families.

Overall just didn't really like the place, the rooms were too crowded, not enough bathrooms and they were a bit run down. However the breakfast was great and bar/pool area was a great place to hang out. Location was ok, but Windhoek is not very large. Staff were reasonably friendly. Pretty good value for money but overall if you are willing to pay a couple of dollars more per night I would recommend Chameleon. If its full then this is a reasonable alternative.

We stood at the Cardboardbox for a few nights. It is well situated as the city center with the embassies and shopping facilities is within walking distance. You got the choice between dorms, rooms and camping. We chose the camping option for N$ 75 pp including 2 pancakes and a coffee in the morning. Camping is safe and secluded, there is enough shade but make sure you stay on a higher level if there is rain coming.
If you choose to join the crowd you just got to go upstairs to the bar surrounding an inviting pool. In the bar the music normally is too loud, but it's a nice place to be. And you got WiFi and electricity up there. The staff is nice and helpful, you can get your laundry done for N$15. We really enjoyed it there and didn't regret to have to stay more days than planned.

This place does what it says on the tin. A well-run and busy hostel, it is a good place to base yourself whilst in the city. The main mall and other local attractions are within walking distance. The proximity to the local university sends a regular stream of students through the bar during the evenings and travelers have the chance to mingle around the pool during the day. The kitchen is pretty good, showers etc usually nice and clean, dorms well kept. There is a camping area around the back. The food served is mainly hotdogs, toasties or lasagna, with the option of purchasing a braai pack on selected days of the week. Depending on how busy it is, breakfast can range from mellow to full-on chaos but its free and incredibly tasty (fresh homemade cinnamon pancakes with tea/coffee) The staff are lovely and friendly. Best bit- you can do your whole backlog of laundry at once for only N$15 in their massive washing machine!!!

Room Tip: If you want an early night, try to get a room further from the bar.
