“So nice !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2012

Second time in Windhoek, first at Gecko. We spent there two nights, after our arrival and before the departure. The house is very nice, rooms are all comfortable, clean and quite. Relaxing atmosphere close to the swimming pool.

We've stayed two nights in this B&B, at the beginning and at the end of our trip. We have been very satisfied. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Maybe the furnitures are not so "glamour" or trendy, but the bed is comfortable and there is enough space to accomodate all the luggages without problems. The bathroom was large and clean as well.
The breakfast was good, and with a choice of food. We've found everything for a very good continental breakfast. Ask for eggs and bacon, delicious.
The staff is polite and friendly, I asked for some tools for a problem in my 4x4 and they also helped me fixing it.
A very good experience.

Meine Frau und ich schliefen in der Gecko Guest House am 10. Mai 2012 und waren sehr zufrieden. We left for Swakopmund the next day. We were so happy with our room and the service that we immediately booked to sleep over again, on our return, three nights later. Jochen Schindler bought the place late last year and has, (and still is), revamping the property. Werklik uitstekende waarde vir geld! Ons sal definitief weer by Gecko Gastehuis oorbly.

i love this place it is very central, clean and comfortable. I got to know this spot since 2008 and comparing it from then to now it has changed even better. Its under new ownership since October 2011, i had few little complains like the plugs etc but now it has been changed and rooms also improved. breakfast has more delicious food, like fresh fruits and breads/rolls/meatplatter etc, which was never there before. Service is excellent and i am glad it has changed for the better because its very convenient location for me. To add on, the pool and the terrace are being refurbished, where i always like to sit and relax at night. i would recommend this place to anyone!!! CHEERS...

Room Tip: Room 1, 2, 6,8 and 7 are my personal favorites.

If you like it unpersonal and unfriendly, than this is a good spot. The owner likes to use the f... word and prefers to make herself comfortable on the patio (or make her own party there). Don´t expect help if there is something not working in the rooms. There are better places to stay in Windhoek for a good value!

I stayed in this hotel twice during August 2011 and found the facilities to be comfortable but only just adequate. Unfortunately the first room I stayed in had a broken soap holder in the shower, a light bulb cover with the barcode sticker still on, an empty soap dispenser and a tap with a handle that came off ! In the second week I asked for a different room and was given one in the lower quarters which was larger and had a better bathroom, but this also had it's own problems - the TV electrical cable had been dangerously extended and exposed wires were simply shielded with a piece of clear plastic tubing. It also was near the main entrance gate, which was noisy and interrupted sleep. The included breakfast was basic - cereal, coffee, (cold and dry) toast and juice was provided as well as a "cooked" breakfast which only comprised bacon and eggs. I asked for sausages and extras, but was told this wasn't possible. The manager was friendly and entertained well in the evening but could be a touch unfriendly and unprofessional. Overall it was a satisfactory place to stay but given the choice I probably would have opted for elsewhere...

Room Tip: I'm not sure this place even has a "good room" unfortunately. Opt for high and on the...
