“Clean, welcoming and efficient”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2013

We stayed just one night after a long flight from the UK and Galton House was just what we needed: a simple, clean, bright, efficient hotel with a large well-equipped room, good shower, plenty of thoughtful touches and nice food,. The manager, Michel, was kind and courteous, the staff cheerful and we would definitely use the place again : it has a welcoming, reliable air to it.

This was an excellent start to our Namibian adventures. Galton House provided a friendly and efficient base. The staff were always willing to help - whether it was making up a sandwich when we arrived later in the evening, making dinner reservations or providing transportation downtown. Our room was modern, offering all the needed amenities. As we left the owner gave us his card and offering any help we might need.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Galton House.

I stayed here at the beginning and end of my holiday. Spotlessly clean and really nicely decorated with great photos, this is a really good place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was great too. It's slightly further out than many other places but it's easy to get a taxi and it's only 10 mins to the centre of town. On the plus side, being a little more on the outskirts of town it's really quiet and there was no problem with dogs barking all night like some others have commented in other guest houses. Definitely recommended.

One night stay after arriving in Windhoek.
Our room was clean, the rooms (to include the bathroom) are modern, and the A/C worked great.
It was very quiet at night as you are in a residential area.
Our included breakfast was well-done, eggs cooked to order and french press coffee.
There is secure parking for your vehicle with a security guard on duty from sunset to sunrise (very common in Windhoek).
I would definitely choose the Galton House again were we to return to Windhoek.

You probably would not want to stay here for more than a couple of days....but it is ideal for a first or last night stay on arrival/departure from Windhoek Airport. We were heading south, so had to drive in to Windhoek - the airport is half an hour or more out of town - so the hotel was en route.

With a map it is reasonably easy to find, and as many have said , it is in the quiet, suburb of Eros. Security is tight, but I must say we never felt threatened anywhere in Namibia. The hotel is ensconced behind a security wall, and your car is safe. You would not come here unless you had transport.

Our welcome was good, and informative. Our room was "modern" and quite small. There was free wifi and cable TV. The public rooms were good in daytime, but a bit drab/under-lit at night.

The pool was small, but sufficient for an overnight stop.

We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel, having just arrived from an overnight flight, we did not fancy driving out again. The meals were all right, but not gourmet (to be fair, I doubt that they claim to be gourmet). My only real niggle was the lighting, which was "drab" rather than "romantic"

Two rooms by the pool area and a few more rooms on the ground floor. It’s clean, the rooms are quite big and I don’t really have much to say about it, which means it’s bland and good as a transit stay before moving on and/or just arriving from the airport.

The staff is very friendly, but invisible. Although they tell you they are there for your comfort and reinsuring you that they are always there for you, this is not the case. Upon our arrival our driver had to honk the horn, ring the gate bell and make a phone call as it seemed the whole place was asleep. This was at 10 am. The same thing every time we needed attention, whether sitting by the pool, at breakfast, at dinner, in the evening we had to go searching for staff instead of them just being there. I do recommend eating out, not at the hotel, as well as having a plan on what to do if you don’t want to be left alone. In their own commercial guide book they mention their chef a lot, who supposedly is big, wonderful and always attentive. We never saw him. Like I mentioned earlier, the staff is nice… when you get a hold of them.

We spent a night before and after a longer 10-day safari-type tour of Namibia. We found the location a bit out of the town center, but the advantage was that it was quiet. The place is new and all the rooms are very comfortable. There is a super nice community living room area. Breakfast was superb and the staff is very helpful.
