Since my work was at the nearby Polytechnic, I thought I would stay at a nice B&B rather than a stuffy standard business hotel. The room was fine (though there was no bar soap), and the staff at breakfast were helpful and friendly. However, without getting into the gory details, I had a lot of trouble connecting to the internet, finding a plug in which to charge my laptop, paying my bill by credit card, etc. The manager/owner was on holiday, which of course she is entitled to be - but the staff should at least be empowered to handle any issues that might arise (for example, the night auditor was not physically able to call the manager because he did not have minutes on his cellphone and the office phone could not be used to call a cellphone - what if there had been an emergency?). This place is probably fine for backpackers and tourists, but not if you need basic business services.
