We spend a marvelous evening and night in the Hilltop Gesthouse.
The guesthouse is wery closed to Windhoek downtown (10 to 15 min walk) and has a biautiful view on little Windhoek. We were in the bedroom number 2, in fact is more a suite that a bedroom. Indded, it is a hudge room with 2 beds, a prived bathroom and the room opens onto a large wooden balcony overlooking the pool and the garden. The house and the garden are beautifully decorated, everything is harmonious, quiet and relaxing. The meal was worthy of a two-star restaurant both for flawour and for the presentation of the plates.
Thanks a lot to Vanda and her team for the warm welcom.

My son and I were the very first guests at this establishmnet since it has been under new management.
The new proprietors Johan and Vanda Potgieter are simply wonderful.
Despite being an old Africa hand this was my first trip to Namibia and my eldest son's first trip to Africa!

The guesthouse overlooks part of the city and has a beautiful aspect especially at night.
The rooms were freshly redecorated and with excellent large and firm beds!

As a special treat to mark the occasion of us being their very first guests we were treated to a delicious gourmet four course supper with a delicaious South African red-gratis!
Thuti their excellent chef (his day job is working in one of Windhoek's top restaurants) served us spectacular beautifully presented culinary delights!(I had the zebra!)

As my son had only a week with me in Etosha I had to return to Windhoek the following week and again a week later after a visit to the Waterberg Plateau NP.
Naturally i returned to Hilltop for these nights too and by the end felt almost like family.

There was nothing that Vanda and Johan considered outside the remit of caring for their guests
Naturally I booked supper with them for the second and then final night and wasn't ever disappointed-it was fine dining indeed-the highest standard.

When I needed help cleaning the hire car which was durty inside and out Johan asked Bandu their gardener to help me out (to save the extra tarif with Avis) He did a spectacularly good job.
When I wanted a quick trip inot town to photograph some of the delightful German archetecture but didn't want to be alone looking like a silly tourist with my camera-Johan took half an hour out to accompany me from his myriad of pressing tasks.
Nothing but nothing was too much trouble and delivered with such good grace.

I really enjoyed chatting with Johan over supper -he has a fantastic wealth of stories from his time as a bush camp manager and game ranger! He makes excellent fascinating company.
Your Namibian safari will start in Windhoek!

If I am ever lucky enough to visit Namibia again will i return to Hilltop?
You betcha !!

Room Tip: The rooms upstairs have the best view.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hilltop. A small family run boutique guesthouse, Hilltop manages to provide a sophisticated hotel experience while retaining the friendly charm of smaller guesthouses! Gorgeous views, well appointed rooms and exceedingly friendly staff made my work intensive trip seem like a minibreak! Yogurt Parfait on the terrace, while enjoying the sunrise and views and hot cocoa and a fire near the pool to keep warm at night! Just a delicious experience!

Room Tip: Room 2 has an enormous bed and double doors out to a deck where you can have a mostly private breakf...

We accidentally discovered this wonderful place after arriving in Windhoek and learning that the hotel we had originally booked had made an error with our reservation. Because it is high season, the only available hotel was the Hilltop Guest House, as it had just opened its doors a few days before. What a great surprise! We are so happy that our original booking fell through. Vanda and Johan, the owners, are wonderful hosts. The 'guest house' is located in a central, quiet and safe neighbourhood. Inside, it has been decorated in a beautiful and cosy style. The rooms are huge; the interiors tasteful; the beds super comfortable, and the views over Windhoek stunning (and that's not to mention the gourmet coffee available all day). And, add to this, a fantastic kitchen. Hilltop's kitchen is run by a master chef, and supported by a number of chef trainees. This means that the meals are absolutely gorgeous. Not the usual Namibian fare, but exciting dishes with real culinary delights. Even if you don't eat dinner in the hotel, the gourmet breakfasts will give you a real flavor of what is on offer. We will be returning to Windhoek before our departure back to Belgium, and we have already reserved our rooms. The Hilltop definitely won't disappoint you.

Great comfortable accommodation in Windhoek for those who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of smaller establishments. Well appointed bedrooms with access to deck where meals - excellently prepared - are taken, weather permitting, with an enjoyable view of the surrounding area. Also fine coffee available at all times!!

First trip to Namibia - twelve hours of travel, did not know what to expect, and then to be dropped at this place was like an oasis of calm. Lovely room on the second floor overlooking the valley with the jacaranda trees in full bloom - beautiful. We met the owner, who was very welcoming and helpful. Bed and breakfast only for us, but the full english was served in our room by very friendly staff and very enjoyable. We left after one day to commence a tour of this lovely country, and returned to Hilltop House ten days later - again, a great way to finish the holiday.

The staff could not have been nicer, the location is in the suburbs. This would be ideal if you have a car. The view is wonderful and the included breakfast delicious. Just don't expect much of a scene. This is more to relax than to experience the city.
