Simple menu, simple deco. Great food. Good value for money. Good service too. I had the springbok medallion with walnut crust, choc sauce & glazed veg. It was very good.

This restaurant is located in one of the oldest house built in Windhoek (1908), attached to the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre, and welcomes every month an artistic exhibition (painting, photography). The cuisine mixes Namibian and French flavours, with a different special menu every week. Food is light and tasty, contrasting with the ordinariness that can be found in several Windhoek restaurants. To go for lunch or just to have a cup of coffee, this place is undeniably to visit and chill out. ps : Don't miss the lemon meringue !!!

Attached to the side of the FNCC - Franco-Namibian Cultural Center in a beautiful old red house in downtown Windhoek, it has a large outside seating area elevated above and back from the street which provides nice ambiance for warm summer evenings. Not too expensive, the value for the money is simply the highest in town.

The food is outstanding. Each appetizer, about 60 NAD, is like a light meal in itself and were superb. Recommend sharing one between 2 people. The main dishes, between 130 to 150 NAD, were also excellent. In addition, they bring bread rolls with butter and pesto, as well as chips/dip to start. We were too stuffed to conquer desert. Our dinner for two including 2 appetizers, 2 main dishes, 2 bottles of water and a 1/4 Liter carafe of wine cost 465 NAD, excluding gratuity. The service was very good too.

A disappointment was our carafe of wine was served at room temperature: i.e. about 27C. Wine should be cellar temperature of 10C and I thought a french restaurant would be on top of such things. However, I dont know if any french people are actually involved in this restaurant, despite its name and location. The warm wine suggests maybe not.

Make a table reservation, especially on Friday evenings. Otherwise you may not get a choice location for a table...if any table.

In all, La Bonne Table is a worthy successor to The Blue Frog which it replaced last year and the value for the money is excellent, simply the best in Windhoek. I am also pleased that the opening hours are until 21:30 on weekdays.

If you are in Windhoek, it would be an error to miss this place.

This fabulous new restaurant is hidden away next to (and as part of) the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre's sculpture garden. The restaurant's setting has both a pleasant outlook, interesting art and colonial charm, but the real drawcard is the food. Most popular at our table was the home-made pasta and gnocchi, although prawn curry with fresh herbs and home-made bread were tough competition, as was the fabulous dessert that we had to 'share' at the end of the meal. Also, this another restaurant that has a children's menu (here called 'Menu for our young guests) that doesn't have chicken nuggets, pizza or fish n chips on it. Thank you from travelling parents everywhere. Finally, the restaurant prides itself on using as much local produce as possible, including making all its own pastas and breads, etc. So at the end of the meal the only real question was, would it have been rude to have licked our plates clean before they cleared?
