Nicon Luxury has had a chequered history. It was Le Meridian at one time and then other. The rooms are standard 5 star size about 200 SFT, facilities include restaurants, coffee shops, some casual shopping and a Night Club.
Amazingly, I witnessed the most exotic SALSA at the night club here with dozens of Nigerian couples doing the dance.
The Breakfast spread is good and the food is nice. Try the Pepe Soup.
Overall the place does need an upkeep and so does the Sheraton.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor and away from the Disco.

I was here for a day event and the very hot ambience of the hotel knocked me off so much I had to take off my jacket for the entire event. Then there was an at least 30 minutes spell of no electricity, it was completely ridiculous! Poorly trained staff, facilities in obvious disrepair, very sad indeed. I personally would not recommend this place for an event.

This is a quite a big hotel, but showing signs of age and lack of maintenance. Can imagine it when it was first built as being a top hotel to stay. I spent 4 nights here in February. It seams to be popular as a hotel to be seen in and do some business in, though not sure why. The rooms are generally quite large, but could really do with decorating as the walls look dirty. The inbuilt aircon units no longer work and are now replaced with big free standing units that look ugly in the corner of the room. In mine it was perched on the packaging that it had been delivered in. The room has a large double bed table empty fridge and a TV. The Wifi was a bit hit and miss in the room and when it worked it was slow which was annoying and the IT guy had to sort out the connection for us which took a while. The balcony sliding door was very insecure. There was a safe and plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom is nothing special and there was mildew on the bath seal. The restaurant is OK but quite pricey, with breakfast at 4000N about £15.00! Not impressed with the staff, tried ordering food at the pool bar and was told to go to the restaurant even though they had a bar menu. The Chef just happened to walk by and we asked him and he was annoyed that the staff were being so lazy. In the end we did get a Pizza and chicken at the bar!. The general attitude of the staff seamed to be to do as little as possible!

Room Tip: check the room out before you move in!

The cleaning crew are the only ones who seemed happy to have me there. I don't know if there is any establishment who would have guests fill out a visitors form to see the manager to make your complaints. The staff here need a whole lot of work. I had such high expectation, the luxury in the name had me fooled.
Finally, there is a bit of gender discrimination apparent in the restaurant. I was a young female diner, and I didn't get as much courteous service as other male diners, the only ladies I saw getting better service were in the company of male diners.

This hotel has had some terrible reviews, so let me add one more perspective! Cons: rooms and public areas are shabby, particularly the bathrooms; standard of cleaning is appalling - my room had thick sticky marks on the tables, litter on the floor, and hair and filth coating the bathroom (and I actually am pretty tolerant of this kind of thing); wifi close to useless; regular power cuts; very expensive food and beverages, but not of very good quality. So far, so Nigeria! But there are some pros too: excellent AC, a very comfortable large bed (even though the sheets were dirty, with lipstick marks and black smudges - probably not washed since last guest); and most particularly a friendly and well equipped gym, which was great for exercise (with music) and to meet a few friendly souls.

The rooms were not as bad as I was made to believe, except for the bathroom paint that was peeling off. The carpets outside the rooms were so dirty - with stains all over and not smelling too good. Breakfast was ok though service at times was not the best.

Room Tip: Use it as a last resort..............rooms on the side of the convention centre on the 6th floor are...

I want to be kind. The a/c worked well and so did the hot water and the television. The rooms are big. That's about the size of it on the positive side. The carpets and chairs are filthy; I woke up one morning to a flooded bathroom; the bathroom fixtures are broken, chipped, worn and need a good, long clean. For the period of my stay the internet never worked and the operators at the business centre - which was the only other option- were rude beyond belief. I got stuck in the elevator (thankfully it was only for about 1 minutes, while some colleagues were stuck for an hour). The menu over seven days was changeless and the staff was, for the most part, unfriendly and unpleasant. Not a good experience.
