I remember when Wakkis was a lean to shack across the road from the Sheraton back in the late 90s. It had real character and great food. And it really was a shack. The governnment threw them out of location, and they moved to an upscale part of town which isn't nearly as convenient to the big hotels or the central business district as their original location. And with the move came higher prices, a much nicer building, but the same terrific Indian food. This is one of the best places to eat in Abuja and the quality of the Indian food is certainly as good as that which I get in the Washington, DC area, my home town. In fact, if there is one restuarant you should visit when you visit Abuja, this is the one.
