I stayed in this hotel a few times. The decor and furniture are quite dated but rooms are okay size (well, probably not for Nigerian standards!), my shower was working well and free wifi (in dry season) was working fine. Food (dinners) in the restaurant is not very nice but (free) buffet breakfast offers a lot of choice. The location is good- 5 min walk from a European supermarket and close to a good Indian restaurant. The service was very pleasant. You can probably get a more modern hotel in Abuja for that price though.

The Valencia hotel in Abuja was OK, but not spectacular by any standard. The bedding was not changed on a daily basis and the bathroom was not cleaned for the three days I was there (there was dirt which was behind the door for the longest!); this is such a shame for a hotel whose slogan is "Let us pamper you". The restaurants serve good food which costs an arm and a leg. However, a breakfast buffet is included with the room rack-rate which is excellent. The biggest drawback is the terrible Internet connectivity whose speed needs to be improved pronto; checking personal and business emails was a real challenge and I had to venture out of the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Blantyre Street come highly recommended, avoid anything that faces the pool as they have a noisy band during week days

Despite the restaurant, cleaning, door, and pool staff being friendly, responsive, and helpful, my stay (and that of my companion, an African male) were overshadowed by the surly and worse-than-useless front desk ladies. They acted as if they were doing you a favor to respond negatively to basic requests (i.e. shampoo, a room key that worked, directions). Perhaps they should refresh themselves on the hotel mission: "to pamper guests with care so they will make a positive impression on the environment". Rooms/bathrooms are large & air conditioned, but old. Internet (and indeed power) is up and down. I am afraid of what might be lurking in the carpet. Pool was clean & of a good size, but can be crowded and very large. In addition, I was overcharged for a meal. Not having stayed anywhere else in Abuja, there's nothing for me to base a comparison on. I would try something else if I came back to Abuja.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask for a quiet room away from street honking. If you are heavy, ensure the space between the sink and tub is enough for you to squeeze through.
