I went to this place just last week. Lovely environment and location, and a superb service from the minute you enter until it's time to leave. Yes, the menu may not be extensive but as I'm on a diet I decided to order the Lamb salad and I have to say, it was delicious. The meat pieces were soft and tender and the salad was crispy. I ordered one of their mock tails - a pineapple mixture which was delicious. I met owner and the manager and while I was there, they greeted everyone who came through the door. I would certainly eat there again.

The service at this restaurant is great. Fast, efficient and attentive, but you never feel like you are pressurized to eat, pay and leave. There is also a fair selection of cocktails and mocktails - but it is the food menu that is quite disappointing - limited in the options offered.

When the food arrived, it was fine, not great - just fine, but portion size was quite small, In fact I think it was the only meal that I was able to easily finish while in Nigeria. The location and decor is great - a revised, diversified menu would be the cherry on top!

Charcoal Grill Restaurant & Lounge located in Abuja, in the hub of the Nigerian Capital, it has beautiful views and a convenient location. A new diner, catering for over a 100 covers serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Modern espresso bar and contemporary restaurant provide guests with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and freshly baked bread and delightful cakes, which no one can resist. The terraced area provides a fully licensed bar and an al-fresco dining experience with views of the city.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes from freshly caught grilled Croaker to sizzling steaks, from succulent roasts — chicken, lamb or beef — to crisp and steaming vegetables in season…
The Charcoal sits nicely atop KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) in Wuse 2. I’d been to KFC a couple of times as well as to Tutti Frutti and the neighboring Chicken Republic, fast food joints but not this babe!
The Charcoal Grill Restaurant & Coffee Lounge, aim to create and maintain delicious cuisine prepared and served to an impeccable standard by courteous staff for their guests to enjoy, “Just the way you like it.”

They are OPEN on Monday to Saturday, 7am till 11pm & Sunday 10am till 11pm.

They have a Breakfast Menu, Lunch Menu, High Tea Menu or A-La Carte Menu.
We were attended to by a most pleasant waiter, his gentle voice was one that made you believe you were king and queen for a day and your serfs were all at the ready to do your bidding. That and the look of the room made a nice impression. Black wooden tables and black chairs with red upholstered seats, grey Venetian blinds set against off white matt-painted walls and the live music of the female singer all made for the beginnings of a warm evening.
You can be seated in the Coffee Lounge, Main Dining Room or the Al-Fresco Dining Terrace with its beautiful views of Abuja. Choose from culinary delights from around the world including a Taste of Africa. If that's not enough, why not enjoy the finest Hot Beverage & Dessert Menu, or exclusive Wine & Drinks Menu with some movers and shakers, a martini or two...or celebrate in style with the finest champagne!
We had the Cola Colada (coconut cream, pineapple juice, fresh milk & honey), Pineapple Sunshine (Pineapple, citrus and passion fruit juices topped with soda), Frozen Ocean (Apple Juice, citrus & soda), November Seabreeze (Cranberry, apple & lime juices, topped with soda) and the regular Chapman. Interesting tastes, we liked our drinks.
Our starters were fun! From the sesame wings, to the shrimp cocktail, to some awesomely tasty spicy charcoal fish balls, they were a delight and deserve a repeat trip.
The charcoal shrimp cocktail and sesame chicken wings are to die for!
Maincourses, the Grilled Peppered Chicken is listed with a Chef’s caveat in the menu; ‘hot, hot, hot’. That is the most honest menu description ever!! For anyone who’s used to the fiery peppers coating roasted chicken in Jos, this is right up that alley and way farther. Real hot peppers. If you do order this, you may want to leave a standing instruction that your drink be topped every 5 minutes. Pure, fiery bliss!
Croaker Fish SizzlerThe Croaker Sizzler: This was a mixed reaction type thing, with the upper side being just ok. Not a ‘Man, this fish sweet die’ taste. But then you get to the bone and you flip the half-eaten fish over on it’s fleshy side and it’s a whole different story. You get assaulted by a variety of spices and juices and the combo of taste and tenderness of just-rightly-grilled fish in a hot Nigerian marinade.
Curried GoatCurried Goat: slow cooked goat in a curry of Caribbean spices. I’ve never been to the Caribbean or eaten a Caribbean dish but slow cooked got me leaning over to taste from my friend’s dish. It was tender, it was spicy, and aromatic.
The Jamaican Jerk Chicken: Like the previous chicken dish, it was tasty. Good choice and tender too. The spices were different and went really nicely with the rice and veggies
The CG Chicken Butterfly: Having been described as succulent, you warily wait in the hope that if nothing else, the chicken will be tasty and not stringy. Well, this was the most tender and yet tasty chicken breast ever. You put your fork in and the chicken came away in slivers. It was a great, great surprise.
LOCATION: Situated on Aminu Kano Crescent in Wuse 2. Finding it is relatively easy too, thanks to Google maps and all the apps on the phones.
AMBIENCE/SCENERY: I liked the place, period. Even now it beckons like some strange virgin territory. I feel like Jack Sparrow about to embark on a journey. I just didn’t understand why the singer never came into the restaurant and stayed out on the balcony. The music could also be a couple decibels lower. It wasn’t nightclub loud but we had to raise our voices a little to be heard my members of our own party. Or maybe I’m just still beefing from the fact that the singer stayed outside. LoL.
SERVICE: The waiters were extremely polite. Since the proprietor/proprietress was on ground, be that as it may, it was excellent service.
COST: Individually and as a whole, most of the prices work. 4 hors d’oeuvres, drinks, water, 6 main dishes and 3 desert dishes of cake slices and ice cream for a total of just over N38k. I think it rocked.
This Vs. Others: Would I go back there? Mos Def. The grilled peppered chicken is like a siren to unfortunate sailors. The pepper was just an explosion. The curried goat deserves another taste too.

Hi there, Thanks so much for your review. I'm very happy you liked the Fish and hope you come back to try other things on the menu. So sorry for the slow service we are working on that and would surely make it faster. We are also making sure we put in more veggie meals. Thanks a lot and looking forward to seeing more of you.
God Bless.
