“Terrific views out over Saint-Denis”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

We stayed at this hotel for one night, which was also our last night in Reunion, after a terrific 3 week holiday. We were two adults and two small children, and we had two connecting executive rooms.

The staff at check-in spoke English, and came out to our car to take our bags up to our rooms, which were on the top floor of the hotel. The rooms were lovely & big, with plenty of room for all of us. They also had a small balcony that looked out over the pool, Saint-Denis and the ocean (in the distance). It was a terrific view at the end of the day, and in the morning.

Our rooms were in very good condition and perfectly clean. There was cable tv, bar fridge, bath robes and free wi-fi in the rooms. Strangely there was no iron though.

We weren't able to eat dinner in the restaurant as it was closed for a function on the night we were there, but it also had terrific views out over the city, as does the pool. A buffet breakfast was served in the restaurant - breakfast was ok, but not memorable.

We found the staff here very helpful and friendly, and it was good value considering the rates we got for the rooms. The hotel is a much higher standard than the Best Western in Saint-Denis, and I wish we had stayed at the Bellepierre for both nights we were in Saint-Denis.

The hotel is in Bellepierre, which is on the hill overlooking Saint-Denis - ie its not in central Saint-Denis. If you have a car though, its only a short drive down the hill to Saint Denis, and we had no trouble finding the hotel. Other than the Palm Hotel, this was one of the best hotel rooms we stayed in during our 3 weeks in Reunion.

Room Tip: The rooms on the top floor have a terrific view out over Saint-Denis

Just a short trip to Reunion of three days but this hotel was a great place to stay with the view across the town of St Denis to the sea with the mountains to the side. After dawn the planes can be seen approaching the airstrip and helicopters land on the hospital but far away so as not to intrude. Breakfast can be taken outside on the deck as can cocktails during the day, right next to the clear blue pool for those who desire to cool down with a swim. The food was good and varied, hotel staff were helpful. Don't miss the helicopter ride while you are there and we also had a day touring the island, which to us, looked like a little piece of France. Wifi was available in our room.

I have spent a couple of days at this hotel in April for Business purpose and was a little bit disappointed. rooms are not worth 4*. A King bed is 2 single beds put together. There was a smoker in the room nearby, so I had smoke in my room. Plastic glasses in bathroom. Standard room level -3 just okay. Buffet breakfast was disappointing. Restaurant dinner was great however. Warm welcome at frontdesk. Please note there is no public transportation: just taxis or car rental at airport, both expensive.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms and suites are nice, but much more expensive

This is clean, comfortable, modern hotel and a good place to recuperate after the long flight from Sydney. The view from our window was lovely and even better from the deck where you can sip a cocktail in the evening have have breakfast in the morning.
Friendly and helpful staff. would stay there again in similar circumstances.

My stay at the hotel was mainly just for sleep and relax because i had much more to do there(yes much to do in reunion lol) The hotel is found uphill and the view is simply awesome! However one thing to point out is that the wifi is very very poor! The hotel offer free internet in the rooms and unfortunately the wifi is not there! I was there twice in a year and the problem is still the same!i was obliged to sit on a couch in the lobby to have internet access to work! Complaining at the desk was of no help!well

We arrived at Hotel Bellepierre as a stopover prior to going to Mauritius on New Year's Eve. It is a long way from the airport compared with other hotels but it is worth the extra km. The service received from the hotel staff was impeccable and very friendly. We were quickly checked in and advised that breakfast was included in our stay.

The room
We were given room 304 which was nicely presented however we wouldn't consider it to be 4 star quality mainly because it needed a bit of maintenance with paint peeling from the ceiling and the fan in the bathroom not extracting any of the warm air which meant that our room was warmer then it already was with the humidity. The bar fridge was locked and we were unable to access it despite having a menu to select from. We also had no view from our room, this was of no concern to us as we were only staying for the 1 night. The shower/bath had some filler that looked really dirty even though it was clean. The bathroom in total was spacious and relaxed.

Breakfast is at 6am not at 5.30am, although reception told us that we may be able to have something to drink. This is pertinent since we had to be picked up from the hotel at 6.30am to catch our flight. Having said that the waitress allowed us to have breakfast early with the food that they had already put out which was delicious and sufficient with proper baguette, pastries, butter and the various cheeses, terrine and fresh fruit and yoghurt all that you could ask for was there. We were asked if we wanted tea or coffee, and when coffee came it was a pot of brewed coffee that was more than sufficient for two cups and was tasty. We didn't have time to try an espresso. We were unable to try the hot meals so we can't comment. Overall the breakfast I would rate as 5 star. We didn't try the restaurant so I can't comment on this.

On a side note my parents stayed there on Christmas eve and they were given complimentary cocktails for that night however, when we stayed for New Year's Eve this was not offered to us despite New Year's Eve being a big deal in Reunion.

The hotel is set on the high part of St Denis so it was lovely to watch the fireworks that the local set off and to see the sea in the background quite idyllic and the sunrise was also stunning, and something you can watch whilst eating the wonderful breakfast.

We would certainly consider staying here again as long as we had the breakfast.

Room Tip: You will need to put the air conditioner on high once you enter the room to get rid of the damp smel...

A friend and myself stayed at this hotel for 2 nights.
Our first night was on arrival at Reunion.
It was not difficult to find with a map (simply follow the signs to 'Bellepierre' suburb or the hospital CHD), was a great place to get a goods night rest after the long haul flight from Sydney.
The location was a bit bothersome, being a fair way out of town and therefore no restaurants.
There is a restaurant on location, within the hotel, but found that while it was a beautiful menu, it was a bit complex for our liking. A simpler alternative would have been nice.
We also stayed on our last night before flying out, and also had a very good experience.
The staff are very helpful, and speak fairly proficent English.

Room Tip: The higher rooms have a better view.
