We spent four nights at IRIS in February and had an excellent stay. The two bedroom apartment was very spacious, clean, and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Central location enabled access to all key attractions in Kigali including good restaurants within walking distance. Having a restaurant on premise is a great convenience. It really became quiet only after 11:00 PM. Hotel accepted Visa but I couldn't use it as the local bank required a PIN set up for the card. Lots of trees and plants in the yard gives it a nice green look. Overall considering the location, safety, and friendliness of staff, we could happily recommend IRIS and would gladly stay there again.
Nice garden.
Rooms haven little balcony tables to sit at and enjoy the garden view.
Clean enough, ok bed.
A bit warm, a fan would be useful.
Wifi worked well.
Credit card and US $ accepted.
Front desk was able to print a few pages for me and arrange a taxi to the airport.
Staff were friendly.
No safe box in room but the closet had a lock on it.
We didn't have any towels, but provided when asked.
The restaurant serves meals but we didn't try it.
We had dinner at Heaven a quick and safe walk at night.
We also walked around the neighbourhood during the day and felt safe.
Breakfast provided with reservation included toast, peanut butter, butter, jam, coffee, tea, fruit.
If you have been going around Burundi and Rwanda (for work), it is good to come back to the iris Guesthouse for a good rest. The rooms are nicely done, bathrooms spacious, the restaurant fine (and otherwise there is another one next door). Of course you're in a city but still abundant bougainvillae in front of your terrace... Near to the city center, you can walk to the center without any problem. Helpfull staff. Good stay.
Three of us shared the two bedroom apartment for 4 nights in December and it was terrific. The apartment is like a townhouse with a kitchen, dining room, living room, upstairs balcony, two bedrooms with two full bathrooms and a half bathroom on the main floor. It was much bigger than we expected. You have to climb stairs to get to the bedrooms.
The grounds are beautiful, full of trees and flowering shrubs. It is a quiet location but a ten minute walk to town (all uphill so be forewarned!) There are also taxis waiting and you can ask them to arrange airport transfers for you as well.
Our only issue was with front desk staff. While friendly, they had nothing to recommend to do, had no maps, and when our toilet tank overflowed, the woman at the desk just nodded and said someone would come straight away. Luckily we knew how to turn off the water! When we returned several hours later, the toilet was not fixed and the new front desk manager was not aware of the problem. He had someone there fixing the toilet within 5 minutes.
Intermittent wifi.
Adequate breakfast but you need to ask if you want an omelette! We ate hard boiled eggs the first couple of days before the server asked if we would like an omelette instead!
I would certainly stay there again.
We really enjoyed the Iris and their attentive staff. As others have mentioned, it is quite expensive for what you get however the guesthouse often has a full house because of their popularity on Tripadvisor Really - just down the block is the Kay Sun which is better value for money. Extremely beautifully appointed with big rooms and a lovely sitting garden.
The food in the restaurant was very good....keep in mind we had been in Africa several weeks.
