This is a cosy little hotel with a view if you are lucky to get a room in front of the swimming pool. The comfort is a bit basic but very acceptable. The place respects your privacy and you do not hear your neighbours. The hotel serves no meals beside breakfast, but several hotels in the vicinity do this.

The swimming pool is available 24/24 and breakfast is served every morning. It is basic too but ok.

I spent a pleasant week there.

Room Tip: the most pleasant rooms are facing the swimming pool

We arrived at this hotel following two days of trekking The Virunga volcanoe mountains for gorilla and as this was an overnight stop before our morning flight to Kenya, we didn't require whistles and bells. This is a small boutique hotel of only 9 rooms chosen for simplicity and to meet an essential rather than luxurious need. What we found however was an absolute gem. On arrival, our soil sodden hiking boots were taken from us for cleaning with a request they be ready for an early morning departure. They did not disappoint and indeed were retrieved looking fresh and new. Check in was efficient, the staff beguiling and within 10 minutes were shown to our room. All rooms are on a single level that sits elevated from the city providing a fantastic viewpoint both at night and the opportunity to witness a stunning sunrise with a Kigali backdrop. The room was both clean and spacious and whilst showing a degree of modernisation, particularly in the bathroom, managed to keep a traditional and warm feel. Wifi is also present from your room. The pool was not heated but most welcome and soon acclimatised.

The location of the hotel is ideally suited amongst many eateries, a plus side as no evening fayre is offered. There is a nightclub nearby which failed to disturb but I would imagine could if your room is to the far left of the building.

Breakfast is low key with yoghurt, fruit, cereal and toast tea, coffee and juice available. Again enough for our itinerary.

I really could not fault our choice and indeed experienced better than anticipated. I would even return if our stay was for a couple of days as it is a perfect base to relax but within easy reach of the busier and more cultural areas of Kigali. A more extended stay might require further research.

We found this here and booked as it is half the price of the standard hotels we know in Kigali - so we were a BIT worried. however, we loved it! as with most places in Rwanda, nothing was done in a hurry so you have to leave your impatience behind but this spot is so lovely, peaceful, clean and shiny new! the pool was a GREAT relief from the long drive. There is NO alcohol so we were a bit sad not to have a sundowner at the pool. Oddly (considering earlier comments) the shower was one of the nicest I have come across! I couldn't bear to get out!

the less than stellar news is as mentioned - night club down street played LOUD music till 530am!!!! also, "THE" hotel hairdryer was not functioning. the breakfast started out as Yogurt, cereal, bread and coffee. slowly other things did appear but too late for us as our flight awaited.

As far as hotels in Africa, this was pleasant and I would return (with earplugs).

Room Tip: not sure if any are further from disco?

The staff was fairly friendly, the breakfast was decent, no shampoo or conditioner in rooms, one towel to be shared between the two of us, the bed was decent, only two pillows but I can deal with that. Easy to find location within close proximity to town. The worst part though.... there is a club nearby that plays really loud music until 3am, if you are a light sleeper don't go here. For the money I expected a bit better.

This is a really nice hotel with friendly staff and a generally calm and pleasant mood, It has a nice pool and yard perched over the city. At first, it seems like a great, intimate, small-scale hotel until....the night gets going. There is a disco nearby of some type, And, the music - and at times cheers - go on from 10:30 until 6:00 am! Pounding bass all night long. No escape. So, bring headphones and/or sleeping pills if you want to rest.

Room Tip: Perhaps there are rooms where the club sound is less constant and disturbing.

First of all, to look on the bright side, the rooms were clean.
And that's about it.
On the darker side-well where to start?

The staff were most unhelpful, and didn't seem to be bothered with the guests at all.

The room locks almost required a locksmith to open them but there was no explanation given by the staff as to the vagaries of the system.

There was no working switch to turn out the lights, just a dimmer hidden away in a corner. Again no information given.

The beds are foam mattresses set 3 inches off the floor so if you're a bit stiff or a bit old, think twice about staying here.

The shower was a non-existent tepid dribble.

The breakfast was a very limited selection of toast et cetera

Really the only thing this place had going for it was that it was relatively inexpensive.

My husband stayed at Inside Afrika for three weeks in November 2013 while on a work trip to Kigali. He was very comfortable there and enjoyed his stay.
It was my husband's birthday while he was there and I contacted the hotel via email to ask them to arrange a cake or some flowers as a surprise for him. I received a very prompt and helpful response and Mr Nkomeje went to some lengths to organize a fantastic cake and flower arrangement for my husband. He sent me some images of both to me via email before presenting them to my husband. The 'icing on the cake' in the end was that they would not charge me for it.
Thanks to Mr Nkomeje and the team at Inside Afrika for helping my husband celebrate his birthday in style! We really appreciated the outstanding service that went above and beyond.
