Staff were very helpful and friendly. The terrace was landscaped beautifully and was nice to eat and relax there. There is a wonderful view of the city. Beds and mosquito netting was fine. Bathroom was adequate except the curtain over the window was not long enough to cover window completely (room 2 ??). Met two different people who said they did not have screens on thier bedroom windows and one person who said they did not have hot water. It is reasonably clean and we enjoyed our stay. Food was very good--they have a garden and use safe water to wash greens.

The entire staff at Good News Guest House are most gracious and hospitable, doing everything possible to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They provided transportation to and from the airport, took us to exchange money, and drove us to various sites. The rooms were comfortable, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed leisurely breakfasts and evenings in the beautifully terraced garden overlooking the city. We were a large group of 9 and everyone of us enjoyed our stay here, both upon arrival to and departure from Rwanda.

We were overwhelmed by the kindness and welcome provided by all of the staff at the aptly named Good News Guest House in Kigali. Ben, the manager of the hotel met us at the airport in the early hours of the morning and transported us the short distance to the hotel. We were quickly checked in and shown our room, which had everything in it needed for a comfortable overnight stay- mosquito net, comfortable bed and our own en-suite shower room which provided a nice hot water. In the morning we wandered out in to the stunning gardens which have a wonderful view over Kigali, where we enjoyed a nourishing and well-presented breakfast. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for either an overnight stay or indeed as the base for exploring Kigali and its surroundings.

My wife, myself and a couple of friends came over to visit daughter and sun, who complete a 3-month internship at the hospital. We stayed the first night and the last night of our one-week trip in Ruanda at the Good News Guest House in Kigali.
As Ruanda and Kigali were unfamiliar to us, it was pleasant to have Ben, the manager/owner of Good News Guest House, waiting us at the airport upon arrival and taking us to his place - a peaceful calm place at reasonable distance from the city center.
Rooms OK, but especially a sympathetic garden and terrace, where we took all our meals. Very friendly personnel - we remember especially the big smile of the kitchen boss.
Ben offered us good service, flexibility, and we could even find a deal to use his 4x4 for our Rwanda visits to lake Kivu and Akagera.
This B&B is also a good place to meet other people visiting Rwanda.
We definitely go back to this place!

The welcome, food and accommodation of Good News Guest House will make you want to return again and again. In a quiet and central location Good News Guest House is a very pleasant place to stay. The meals are made and served to a high standard and the staff are always pleasant, friendly and welcoming. There is also the option of airport pick up and drop off. I would strongly recommend Good News Guest House.

This is more like a family-run B&B than a backpackers, per se. The “Good News” in its name is same, same as the Bible and it’s a Christian-owned guest house I believe. That should give you a “feel” for the place, but shouldn’t deter those of secular persuasion.

Ben and his family, who run the Guest House, are Rwandan Tutsi genocide survivors and they’re amazing people. The Guest House’s function is to facilitate the employment, healing, and hope-for-the-future of other survivors too; and is staffed thus. They’re all equally amazing. Rwanda itself is very safe to visit (the pride of Africa I should think!) and the Good News Guest House is just the same.

In about late 2008, Rwanda replaced the 1920’s colonially-introduced French language with the now-preferred, and learned in school, English; and Kinyarwanda is the indigenous tongue. To that end, if English is your lingua franca, you’ll find kids responding fluently and many adults trying their best; even in the face of French.

The Good News Guest House benefits from a big and well-manicured back garden which, atop the hill, provides a sprawling view of Kigali. However, its oft-hosted garden functions, and erected white tent on these occasions, obscures said view.

Rooms are big, clean and basic, but no tv, aircon or heating. Limited power points. Windows are screened and there are nets on the beds. Showers pump out plenty of steaming hot water. Wi-fi is pretty good, both in connection and speed.

Food at the Good News Guest House is fantastic, home cooked, and delicious (not to mention a lovely aspect from its kitchen window). Even if you’re not so inclined, make the time one night to dine-in with Ben, his family, and other guests. The conversation/s are worth it. You can grab water/soft drinks from the kitchen freezer, but the House could do well to set up some help-yourself coffee/tea making facilities in times outside food service.

Airport transfers can be organised (Ben personally collected me, and waited hours for my delayed flight!) and they easily sort taxis/drivers to-and-from the city centre.

I had trouble finding their contact when I tried to book, but you can search them on Facebook (where I first messaged) and these are the emails I used thereafter: benkayumba@gmail.com or goodnewsguesthouse@yahoo.fr (not as reliable as the gmail).

The Good News Guest House is not a place to party but, served with a good dose of insight, it is certainly a lovely, tranquil setting for introspection and a great place to stay.

We wanted a good place to start our trip in Rwanda. We visited the gorillas in Volcanos national park, lake Kivu, tea plantations, etc. Good News guesthouse provided the perfect place to get started. Ben the owner gave us loads of useful advice. There was good internet.
The big surprise was the food. We expected to eat out but the food was so good that it was easier to eat in. I loved the garden that was full of birds.
Overall we felt at home. We would have no problem recommending Good News to anyone looking for a fair deal, safe and secure.
