This museum is an experience. What I found most affecting was the layout of the museum, the journey it takes you on from a few featured in a video, to the lives of the many affected, to genocides more broadly, and then with a final video that offers hope and light after everything the country has seen. It's an emotional ride, and a traumatic one, but the curators have told the history in a compassionate way.

Very informative. Possibly a bit biased, but an excellent account of events and comparisons to other genocides in history

As other posters have said, this is a must see. This is a sensitively put together collection of the recent history of Rwanda. It explains clearly what happened and it is an eye opener. You can get a headset and wander through at your own pace. Highly recommended but be prepared to be saddened.

This is a respectful, honest view of the genocide ...with honest background information transmitted through an audio recording. This allows the visitor to take as much time as one wishes to process the information ...and the emotional response to the genocide.
I highly recommend this museum. It was my primary reason for visiting Rwanda . It was completely worth the flight . The people of this grand country made me want to stay for much longer than I initially planned.
